I suspect that Nancie Guthrie is already dead. That ransom demands were sent to uninvolved outlets 5 days after the estimated time of the abduction is the key indication that the ransom notes are a new idea from the perpetrators to try and get some cash.

That may or may not be, but IMO she's dead.
