I saw this report today on Anderson Cooper, apparently no less than 33 states operated some type of eugenics (forced sterilzation) program during part of the 20th Century. The story focused on North Carolina which was very aggressive (for lack of a better word) in commiting this and people want compensation, now not forthcoming.
As an American, I find it extremely disturbing that we did this.
Of course, it was also done in disproportionate numbers to blacks and women. In North Carolina, if you were homeless, slept around you could be sterilized. The order could come from a fucking county sheriff too. Can you believe that?
If you ask me, it's further proof that "Big Brother" has been in our own yards far longer than we care to admit.
It's a disgrace!
Lies,lies and more lies.
