Endless Ends

There's a stuffed owl with what I think might be a...jackrabbit? 😳

Either in the school or the police station.

I'm not sure which is worse....

They have a special *guano* suit to protect the heroine from ammonia overload as she ventures into the caves being used as a roost! 😎

Aaaaaaaaaaaand, the obligatory evil government paper pusher is tell the army(?) major they're gonna blow the cave early. 😳

Can Dina (Oh, excuse me, Sheila) make it?!

:p

Wait . . . what happened? You left me hanging . . . did the bats win? . . . did Dina vanquish them with a tennis racket? . . . horror fans want to know.

Next up? How 'bout a horror film involving a cruise ship? . . . like "Triangle" (2009) or "Ghost Ship" (2002) or "Deep Rising" (1998). Maybe there's more to think about than just "what to wear" . . .

Still to floopy to really focus on the reading, so movies are back on the agenda. Baaaaaaaaaad movies. :p

Tonight:

Lavalantula (2015)

This looks to be an odd one. Steve Guttenburg plays an action star.

I'm going to let that sink in....

Also several people from Police Academy (1994). (Which I've never seen.🤷🏼‍♀️)

Also Lava.

Also tarantulas.

There may be updates. :D

I don’t know if I knew there was an original.
After reading about the pre-code cuts this movie could have been featured in Sally Sparrows thread.
I think I may have mentioned it before.

It follows the same script, but it is -

SO DIFFERENT

The actors playing Spade represent so differently.

Those decency cuts. 😳

What is the Sally Sparrows thread?

My Heart is a Chainsaw is proving quite enjoyable!

Quite honestly, I wasn't sure why to expect. Even less, was I sure I'd like what I read. The author tends to a slightly gritty style, which is not my preferred mode of literary relaxation.

Too, I was concerned about whether my horror knowledge was adequate to the task of catching all the easter eggs. I like horror, but the slasher genre is not my forte. 🤷🏼‍♀️

On the latter, no need to worry. Jade, the protagonist and slasher aficionado, is on the spot! She talks the reader through, referencing relevant movies and how they fit into the pattern.

The book is structured like...well, I was going to say a how-to slasher, but it's more like having a not quite omniscient narrator who herds you through the clues of what's unfolding.

Jade's extra-credit assignments to her history professor are an additional font of information. (She needs extra credit to graduate.) She peppers him with papers like: Slasher 101, and transcribed oral histories (with commentary :p) from town residents on local slasher events in the last hundred years.

The books premise is a unique take and all kinds of clever!

I think this might be right up your alley, @hotwords229_A

And, it seems the series is a trilogy! The next offering, Don't Fear the Reaper, is out in February.

I'll be picking it up. 😎

I’m going to have to read this. Or, at least, add it to the pile of books I’m supposed to be reading.

Honestly, even with the spoon-feeding, I was suspect I miss much.

It almost makes me want to dash out and watch all the moves mentioned! With my eyes closed, of course. :p

(No, really. 😳)

Anyhoo, a true slasher-horror aficionado would no doubt appreciate if far more than a layman.

(The audio version gets decent reviews.)

Eesh. It has been a day.

*thunk*

I've sat down twice. (Logging in to Lit is the second sit. :p )

Notable Things Today:

-Frick! it's cold! 🥶
-I need to have more fun.
-Pâté can be made with creme fraiche? Who knew? 🤷🏼‍♀️
