Endless Ends

Enny, stumbled on this recently and thought it would be perfect for you to get lost in on one (or more) of your late evening ponders.

https://horrorobsessive.com/

You might start with "Movies" - "Subgenres" - "Werewolves" . . . happy browsing. :D

Enny, you got the "preview" teaser yesterday, so you had one full day today and daylight tomorrow to prepare for:

The full Wolf Moon rises on Friday, January 6, 2023 ! and reaches full status at 6:08 EST.

What does it bring? "Because it's happening in nurturing Cancer sign, it’ll push you to do everything in your power to feel safe and comfortable. At the same time, the full moon is connected with Mercury, the planet of the mind, which will encourage you to do a little more deep thinking than usual."

"Are you happy with where things are headed in your life, or is it time to switch things up? If so, what would that look like, exactly? Speaking of visualizing your ideal life, you’ll become laser-focused on nailing that elusive work-life balance."

"Frankly, kicking off 2023 with some quality couch time is just what you need after the hectic holiday season. Taking a few moments to just kick back and chill will be a welcome reminder of how much you need that balance in your life. Like, you can’t just go full throttle all the time."

But before you contemplate all that, Enny, pull up the link from yesterday and find a good werewolf movie you haven't seen before (or re-watch your all-time favorite). :D:eek:

Oooooooooooooh.

The briefest perusal has yielded:

-Werewolves can be killed by sticks with a silver handle!? What?! I've seen that movie (Wolf Man, 1941) a hundred times and never caught that particular tidbit. 🤯

-I simply must find the rest of the Hombre Lobo series. Paul Naschy, the "Spanish Lon Chaney" delivers.

-Werewolf by Night, released this year. Filmed in black and white. Color me intrigued....

My favorite moon of the year. Hands down.

First moon of the new year and full (get it? :p) of possibilities, werewolves and my birthday moon.

What more could you want from a moon?

"Are you happy with where things are headed in your life, or is it time to switch things up?
It is SO beyond time to switch things up.

(Honestly, I can't believe what an idiot I am sometimes.)

Drat! I'd like to pull something new, in the spirit of kicking off the *new* year, but, alas, my bandwidth allocation for the month won't permit.

Oh, the perils of country living. :p

Murky skies here, but still a great moon! The haze made the halo fracture into long points, like a star.

So beautiful. It motivated me to ritual and a little skyclad dancing. Something I haven't done in for-ev-er

It's going to be an ah-mazing year.

I can feel it! :catroar:

(About darn time. These last few.... I need memory bleach. 😂)

Skies are clear here, crisp and below freezing. It’s a beautiful night. And yes, sending groovy vibes for an amazing year to you! 💗

Settling in to watch Wolf Cop (2014). In honor of the Wolf Moon.

Strange choice, you say?

Welp. Bandwidth issues, and I have a surprisingly limited werewolf collection that doesn't require streaming. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Something I will be rectifying.

Stat. :p

The production value on ^^^ is surprisingly high!

It lulled me into watching Another Wolf Cop (2017). Which was...a mistake? 😂

I knew this from my previous view, but it's been a while, and that darn production value!

I had an awkward experience today.

Every so often, someone I know will have a day bemoaning their ongoing woes. For some reason, they'll end things up by saying something along the lines of, "Why do these things happen to me? I'm a good person?"

The last bit always ends on an upward inflection. Meaning they are asking me. If they're a good person.

I. HATE. THAT.

The word *good* is just so subjective. What makes a person good? My definition is hardly likely to be the same as someone else's, and, if pressed, I might think of one, maaaaybe two, people I could tag in that way. I just don't categorize people in those type of black and white terms.

Too, I know exactly why those same things keep happening. They keep making the same bad decisions, over and over and over again. I mean.... 🤷🏼‍♀️

Am I allowed to point that out? No.

Am I allowed to skirt the implied *good* question? I try. Oh, do I try.

And, now they're not speaking to me. Per usual.

*head desk*

One of these days I really am going to have to learn the subtle art of LYING.

People. So exhausting. :p

There's a couple I'm friends with, or, at least, I was friends with the wife and then she married. The husband is...okay. For the most part. He does this one thing that makes me crazy.

My gf is the primary cook. She works, and, on the regular, gets meals on the table for the family. (They've got two young children.)

Every once in while he will cook. It's a party. People are invited, and once the food is done he swans in with a platter of meat from the grill and sets it on the table like a chalice. He awaits applause - literally. You'd think he just...idk, delivered a baby or something! 😂

*Note: Do I need to say here that that's all he does. Just the meat. No sides. No appetizers. No desserts. No other food prep.

Just....gets on my nerves.

*looks at last two posts*

I think I might be a tad cranky. :p

So. Been sick at home for a couple of weeks. Much reading.

This last book has been quite educational. I’ve learned:

-Canada has it’s own Mason-Dixon line. (Bears figure heavily. :p)
-The meaning of the word deuteragonist.

AND

I’ve a newly minted desire to take up the mantel of epistolist so I can order some Diane de Poitiers stationary.

With deckle edge.

In a gold embossed box.

Because, obviously I need that. OBVIOUSLY. :catroar:

Unfortunately it seems to be out of stock. Like, everywhere.

What's a budding epistolist to do? 🤷🏼‍♀️

- Mark of the Vampire (1935) really is the best slacker-day vampire movie! To kill one of the creature's of the moment requires severing their throat and placing *bat thorn* in the wound.

That just never gets old. :p

- Cain's Jawbone. HOW did I not know of this before?! Not that I'm blessed with the perspicacity to solve something of such complexity. Not remotely.

That doesn't stop me from wanting to try. Like. A lot. 😂

- RINGWORLD IS BEING DEVELOPED FOR A TELEVISION SERIES

That last one is so exciting I might have peed myself a little. 😳

Last night I started Blindsight, by Peter Watts.

(It's only been on my to read least for nine months or so. 😂)

I love his writing! So dense. So science-y. So why so long to read? I have to be in the right mood. Reading moods are a thing! 😎

Hard Science fiction seems like it fell out of favor for a while since it's heyday. At least, I seem to run across less.

-I enjoy the technical aspect, even if not familiar with the ideas.
-I like have a browser open, to educate myself on concepts.
-I hope the author will toss out a couple of new-to-me vocabulary words.

Is that weird?

It's weird, isn't it? :p

I know I mentioned this, like,, two days ago, but -

RINGWORLD IS BEING DEVELOPED FOR A TELEVISION SERIES

Louis Woo! Teela! Chmeee*! Nessus!

Known Space! Boosterspice! Tree-of-Life! Pak Protectors!

*Pardon. I meant Speaker-to-Animals. :p

It might be that I'm just the teensiest bit excited.

Maybe. :p

This Author just delivers.

The captain of the space ship is a vampire. An extinct type of human resurrected from the Pleistocene era. Obligate cannibals, driven by their inability to synthesize the hominid brain protein protocadherin. They've a few other bundled genetic mutations like the Crucifix glitch. A right angle glitch in the visual cortex that triggers grand mal seizures. (Which led to their demise when discovered by our ancestral brethren.)

Best biological vampire explanation I have ever seen.

I mean....

Hands down. 😎

(Yeah, yeah. I know. I'm starting another book while still reading this one. I often read 2-3 books at a time. It's the Enny glitch. :p )

I'm going to have to check out "Blindsight".

By definition: "Someone who is radiant is so happy that their happiness shows in their face." I'm not one who shows emotion easily, at least in public. Certainly not apathetic nor indifferent . . . just more controlled I would say.

But I do love this definition of a radiant woman: "Radiant Woman is your opportunity to break free of your old thoughts, stories, habits, and ways of being with men and step into a new experience, one where you are vibrantly alive, sexy, worthy, strong, capable, and fully seen by men as the everyday Goddess that you are."
