Endless Ends

When you come to London (the proper one in the UK), I'll glady take you for afternoon tea.
Really?!?!

*squeals*

I don't think I've ever had a proper British tea. Only food grabbed on the go while traveling and the US Southern kind. 🤔

Oooh! Now I have a trip goal. And then I could swing by after and see Hadrian's wall and the Isle of Skye, neither of which I managed before when I visited the British Isles.

I am unreasonably excited! *squeals again*

Gloves optional.
I always have gloves. At least, sun gloves.

Summer here is like the scorched seventh circle of Dante's Hell. 🤣

Also, I should probably be embarrassed to say that I did not know there was city called London in Texas. (Population 180. 😝 )

There are just sooooooo many small towns in Texas and the state is a smidge large.

For the edification of all - :p - there is also:

- New London (population ~1,000)
- "London" - a fast growing, happening suburban area in Corpus Christie*

*I'm having a hard time picturing this. 🤔

There are also many many traditional tea places on the east coast because of all the historical stuff. Clotted cream, finger sandwiches and pots of tea galore.

Rights are hard fought for. And can be so easily taken away.

A lesson to all of us.
I grew up taking all this stuff for granted. Abortion access, birth control- those were all standard by the time I reached majority.

I don't even remember the protest or push to end not so subtle female subjugation to the state.

When you grow up with "rights" it's hard to appreciate what actually went into achieving autonomy.

Or that you are a risk for autonomy being taken away.

Managed to drag myself to the treadmill.

So. I am getting back on the running pony. My body wants to feel good again.

I am a slow runner. It takes me over an hour to run a 10k. I just can't seem to get my pace up.

However -

I've been doing a little reading that proposes it is easier to increase speed if you start with short increments rather than trying to speed up on a longer run. I mean, I've heard worse theories. 💁‍♀️

With this in mind, I've started the Couch to 5K program running at increased speed, and continuing to increase until I'm comfortably doing thirty minutes at the pace I want.

It may seem like I'm making a fuss about little, but my pace is stubborn.

I wonder why. 🤔😝

I realize most people approach Lit wanting to know people's stats and see what they look like.

This is not my way. I like to get to know people without all those pesky details that cause me to make assumptions.

Age, marital status, sexual preference, family details, education, even region all lead to assumptions. Some big. Some small. Some tiny little micro assumptions I don't even realize I've made. Not that the assumptions are necessarily bad or good, they just . . . exist.

I don't mind knowing details or even pictures down the road, but I like to form my opinions and impressions of people unfettered.

Where I am rambling with this? :p

I read a trio of books sometime back. Anne Lecke wrote a trio of books starting in 2013. I've mentioned them before.

They were very well written, and quite unique in that the primary society does not recognize gender. I hear everyone cringing but it was before gender identity exploded as a thing.

While two biological sexes existed, everyone was referred to as she. Differences among people focused on things like class, race, and language.

What caught my attention was that I kept gendering the characters! I could not not gender them. 🤣

I'm not sure this has a point, except that it seems there are, indeed, some things I need to know.

And if I don't know them, I'll just assign them on a whim. :p

I might run a 10k. If someone was chasing me with a knife. But honestly, I’d rather just try to not die and kill the attacker. The running bit would just be torture.
