You're right. An intervention would be a mistake. But we've talked it and talked it. Or at least I have. He hears what I say, but doesn't respond. I thought time heals this. Eight years is a long time. I do want to be sure he is not suffering from other health issues though. Never forgive myself if this were all a symptom of something else more serious and I didn't do my part to keep him healthy.

I think people who post cruel responses are doing so from their own pain. They are really sad if you think about it. Maybe we should pity them, but whatever is causing their pain, we can't fix it. Better to just ignore them and let them wallow in their own self-pity.
 
I think the detractors on this thread should at least give Sassy credit for trying to keep her marriage together, rather than just tossing it aside. She doesn't really sound like a bad person.
 
That saying "Time heals all wounds" is far far FAR from the truth... I'm pretty positive the major problem is his pride. He's ashamed and doesn't want anyone else to know.

The situation he's in is like being locked in a damned dark room with no way out. I won't lie, when I came back I had a little problem. Sometimes he worked, sometimes he wouldn't. My ex wife sat me down, talked to me and, luckily, it was a pretty easy fix. Is he still in the military? If he is, contact the Chaplain for some advice for yourself. If he isn't, find a military chaplain online and talk to them anyways...
 
War leaves a lot of tension that fucks with men... Like I said... A lot of us deal with it. It probably just snowballed on him and gave him a mental block. Like an all-star in a hitting slump. He might just need to put together a string of hits before knocking them out of the park regularly...

It's not my place to say, but it is better to ignore him. He wants people to attack him, it's the only way people like him can feel alive. If everyone ignores him, he will go to another thread. He does it for attention. Unfortunately, there are adults who never got past their childhood. If you notice, he is acting like an unwanted child.
