Embarrassing TMI personal question... advice needed

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask, but since I don't know/trust people in other sections of Lit, I figured I'd try asking here.

I don't masturbate often, but when I do it's usually putting household things up my ass (i don't orgasm from it, just like the feel). Anyways, sometimes I get carried away and it bleeds a tiny bit, but I've never been concerned because it always stops easily and isn't much at all and since I sometimes bleed when I poop, it never scares me

However, this morning after I did it, there was more blood then usual. Still not "a lot" by any means, but enough to concern me enough to ask more experienced people's advice.

With anal sex, does bleeding always need to be treated, a cause for concern, or is a little bit okay? Has anyone had experience with this? I REALLY don't want to go to a doctor/hospital about this, so I'm really hoping that a little bit of blood is okay... It doesn't hurt, and it's not like dripping blood or anything, I just saw it on the toliet paper....

I feel really horrible asking such a personal question here, but you all are the only ones I know that I can ask.... Help?

well I'm not medically qualified and I can only go off my own experience. From the amount of blood you describe it sounds pretty much like you have snagged or torn yourself and it will probably clear up in the next day.

What I would say though is if it doesn't you should swallow your embarrassment and visit your doctor, at the very least to have your mind put at rest

I'm currently reading Anal Pleasure & Health: A Guide for Men and Women by Jack Morin, Ph.D.

It sounds like overly rough play has caused some anal fissures- small tears or cracks in the tissue of the anal canal. Fissures usually heal on their own, but occasionally do need to be cauterized by a MD.

Self-treatment suggested in the book consists of examining the anus (use a hand mirror) to see how irritated the area is, suspension of all anal sex until the issue is resolved (or you can at least make an informed decision), frequent warm baths, bland, high fiber/low fat diet, learn to move the bowels without straining, application of a soothing medication, and meditation to reduce stress. (I'm gonna nag by saying that frequent blood in the stool probably ought to be checked out, just as a precautionary thing.)

If things don't clear up, you really should get checked out by a doctor- the curvature of the anal walls/rectum, make it somewhat easy to perforate the wall of the anus, which means more infection/problems than the orgasm is probably worth. ;)

erm.....thats what I meant :p

I'm just geekier and more verbose than you. :D

*laugh* yeah all that AND you get to wear librarian glasses!

Also, be more careful in the future. Make sure whatever it is you're using doesn't have any sharp or rough edges and use some lube. Take my word for it - you don't want sores in there.

*hugs graceanne, minx, and CutieMouse lots* Thank you so much. The bleeding has stopped, and it doesn't hurt, so I think things are fine. I am going to take the suggestion of checking with a hand mirror to make sure it looks okay, and will definately be more careful in the future. Thank you! *hugs* This is why I love this place so much.... Lots of fun/sexual/crazy talk goes on, but when it comes to the serious stuff I can count on you, too.

And CutieMouse, did someone tell you I have a thing for librarians? ;)

That is a great book and Morin knows his business. I concur with Cutie's advice. You might also have a small hemorrhoid that gets aggravated with your ass play. The next time you go for a medical check-up make sure to include a prostate exam. The Dr. will place a finger up your bum to do the exam. Mention to the Dr. exactly what you did here and ask if you might have a hemorrhoid. It is no huge deal - I have one and most of the time I give it no notice. Every-now-and-again I see some blood on the tissue and I know it just wants a little TLC.

I applaud your courage to ask - thanks for trusting us.

:rose:

It's perfectly normal to bleed a little bit from anal play. I do it all the time! And yes, sometimes I tear while using the bathroom too, I've never been too worried about it. All perfectly normal. You've already gotten good advice, I just wanted to let you know that it's normal. :)

If you are female, and your doctor agrees to give you a prostrate exam, maybe you need another doctor.

Honey, *everyone* has a thing for librarians (including me- which says a lot about me LOL).

I'm not a librarian...

But I _am_ quite the bibliophile and have a nice collection of autographed editions... :D

Never mind. I went and made a new thread.
