That's a thought. I have a barely started humor entry I wanted to submit this yesr but things just didn't work out...

My sports injury practitioner might object.

He has already read me the riot act for climbing a cliff last weekend.

Now I have to wait for an MRI scan to see how damaged my spine is, not from last weekend, but from a mis-spent youth of incompetent sporting activities.

I didn't really start to have problems until my 40s, as a result of damage I did in my late teens and twenties, and now there is a possibility that the damage started when I was run over by a horse and cart when I was three years old. (another long story...)

I used to play Rugby, surf (and was part of a surf lifeboat crew), race motorcycles on track and across country, ride horses across country and hunting, rockclimb, mountaineer and I was part of a cliff rescue team.

I fell off the waves, the motorcycles, the horses, the rocks, the mountains and the cliffs.

Each time nothing broke but I was bruised. Now it seems that the repeated impacts have flattened my vertebrae which have fused solid and locked my spine to my hips. Touching my toes has been impossible for at least 30 years; now touching my knees from a standing position is also impractical.

I can still walk even if I have to use a cane sometimes. Airline seats are a real problem because they do not adjust to fit the shape I am and I don't adjust to fit the seat.

I appreciate the lumbar adjustment on my Volvo.

Wow, Og, I'm so so sorry. I also have back problems though mine were due to my own stupidity and I've been off work for two years waiting for another surgery. I had one and then fell down a flight of stairs a couple weeks after it, which messed up my spine even worse. So I can feel for you.

I guess it's what I get for trying to move a pantry by myself.

When are you having the MIR Og? Make sure they give you decent music, you might be in the tunnel a while. Mine on my neck and head last year took the best part of two hours, though they had to re-do some shots as my snoring vibrated the imaging.

I don't think so. It may be an easy category, but it won't be an easy contest.

Valentine's Day is probably the easiest contest to write for. Earth Day may be the most difficult to get plot bunnies.

Getting a high score on a 'How to' could be a real challenge.

I meant that writing for How-To allows us a break from fictional plotlines because we're writing about a subject that we're already familiar with to some degree in real life.

How to write about Lesbian sex when no lesbian in your community dare admit that they are for fear of a public stoning.

How to find out whether the woman inside a burqa is attractive and interested without being shot by her relations.

How to cheat in a Literotica contest.

How to bribe Og so that you win a Last Place (tm) Contest. - No one has tried that yet...
