Earth Day Story Contest Support Thread

I think Last Place winners are flukes and not an accurate reflection of the quality of the story.
Oh, come on! I get one award here and you say it's a fluke?! :p

About Breathless Stargazing, I think it was high on the 'wow, he tried something new and it's either funny, mad and brilliant or totally worthless' scale. You confused them. That doesn't really work.

I say it is a fluke because your story deserved to be rated much higher than it was. Were you aiming for Last Place when you wrote it? I don't think you were.

You won the Last Place award in the proper manner - by writing a good entry for the main contest and getting a poor rating for it. Despite all the banter in this long thread, none of us really aim to be last. It takes skill and dedication to achieve the Last Place award.

You should wear your laurels and flaunt your logo with pride. You earned it.

Og

PS. Confusing the readers? Would I do that? ;)

*hugs*

PS. No, of course not. I'm sorry. You merely tried to make their brains shut down for the next year.

Next time, we need to distract the trolls with something shiny so they'll be occupied for the entire contest.

Easy. A disclaimer saying that the stunts in the story are not to be attempted at home and that all the action was done by experts with medical attendants on standby, etc... :D
Oh hell, I gotta have medical people on standby? That takes away all the fun. I even had a couple of wonderfully trolllike targets out there...sharpened my knifes, froze my icycle, cleaned untraceable guns and wiped away all the fingerprints. I even went out and got some cigarette butts swiped from a bar where no one even really noticed me, managed to find an alibi and got an untraceable cell phone, one of the prepaid variety, bought with cash from a corner store about two hundred miles from here. I used adhesive spray and put rubbersoles of a size shoe about two sizes bigger than mine on the bottom of an ancient pair f mine, rigged a few doors so there wouldn't be any sign of breakin and got some generic type glasses with someone else's lipstick on them...also borrowed from a restaurant a few miles from home.

Oh gee, what am I forgetting.

i wouldn't do a step out of the house without a group of experts and security teams around.

Oh yeah, and latex gloves.

Also some dog hair the pound. It's so much fun to plant fake evidence to send the cops off the trail.

Should be seeing the "How Too" support thread
really soon though, right?

Looking forward to it!

I'll come keep y'all company (look at me, I spelled that right! :p ) but I doubt I'll write anything... unless I'm divinely inspired between now and then...

ha, first time i have a contest story somewhat ready before the support thread is even started. now if i could just get myself to work it over so it is completely ready...

Anyone can start a support thread.

It doesn't have to be me. It used to be Tatelou who was the cheerleader for these contests. I think she did a better job than I do.

However, if you all want a 'How To' support thread, I suppose I'll start one this weekend...

You're a gentleman and a true support-thread starter.

are you the official cheerleader now, Og?
Do you have the skirt? ;)

No, and

No, except the skirt on my Henry VIII costume.

Which is why Tatelou was much better at cheerleading than I can be. I just do the shouting. Anything else would be seriously unaesthetic.

I find you divinely inspiring (much better than Og in a skirt ;) ) but I'm still not going to write a 'How To' - I wouldn't know how to begin.

I'll stay around and cheer on the victims though.

but if you would do one of these cheerleader dances it might inspire me to write two or three more stories.

My sports injury practitioner might object.

He has already read me the riot act for climbing a cliff last weekend.

Now I have to wait for an MRI scan to see how damaged my spine is, not from last weekend, but from a mis-spent youth of incompetent sporting activities.
