those of you that have the PCs on your stories I most likely wrote ya something when i voted... those that didn't just got a voting... but i did read each and every single one of them

No way I can get a lower score than him. Even though in my story just when the sex got good I put in the blurb "(EXTREMELY SEXUALLY GRAPHIC SCENE BLOCKED FOR RELIGIOUS REASONS. PLEASE CHECK THE SETTINGS ON YOUR COMPUTER)" and left the sex out. Not only that but I begged for 1 votes at the end of the story.

I admit I found our contest to be quite fun.

I can tell you why your scores were so hi, that religous comment was extremely cool. I'm going to have to do something like that in humor and satire. We all loved it. I'm kind of surprised you didn't rate higher.

As much as I'd love to see the PICS of you, I won't take advantage of you. If you wish to post them please do. I'm sure we'd all love to see that glorius body of yours. But don't post them if you don't want to.

And remember it takes time and a dedicated effort to write as badly as I do

Don't concede or get cocky, newbies. The last few days of a Lit contest can get VERY interesting. I think it was during last year's Nude Day contest that Og and I were going at each other feather and limp noodle for last place. Like a rock sinking into a cesspool, Gauchecritic came crashing down from out of nowhere to snatch defeat from our feeble grasps.

I grant you JoKo seems like a natural last past contender and may prove to be an unreal con-digy, but around here, hope eternally falls flat on its face.

Do you suppose that seasoned Lit writers have a greater chance at winning these contests? This is my first contest and because I'm an unknown around here, I find I'm getting lost in obscurity. Very few views and no votes in at least a week.

My other question is, who wins these contests if you are all so set on losing?

I feel a bit the same way. I posted one story, "They say you can't go home again".

Then I decided to try my hand at humor, so I wrote "The Greatest Story ever told" Or "Bi*ch stole my Viagra" and it didn't even get entered. Darn, I just KNEW that one would get last place.

Probably the crack about the "fu**ing Earth Day Contest", huh? I wrote it to sound stupid, everyone says it is funny?

Hey, perhaps I have missed my calling!

After Laurel has worked her magic it tends to be the best story over a wide ranging, category defying, list of merit. From 'good' writing to emotionally charging and from wankable to readable.

The last place honours are a race amongst friends who all decry their own ability and undoubted talent as a kind of backlash against popularity vs endevour.

There's no question that being a familiar name will help you get more views and votes. To overcome being "unknown" try to read the stories of as many other contestants as possible--and leave comments. Virtually all contestants will return the favor. And you're already participating in contests discussions which is how I first knew about you.

There is also a predictable drop-off in views and votes after your story comes off the "New" list. This is true for all Lit stories. If and when Laurel sets up a Contest forum with all the entries, your totals should increase.

And as several of us "old timers" have mentioned, views and votes seem low in this contest.

As for your question about the "last place competition" there's no way I can improve on the answer you got from Gauche.

Thanks for the public comments on my Earth Day stories. They are much appreciated.

I have added a public comment to 'Ancient Liberties' to explain about Freemen of the City of London. My father was a Freeman. My older brother is. My oldest Aunt was a Freeman.

I've lost count of the number of cousins who are Freemen. A distant relation had been an Alderman of the City of London (an Alderman is a long service Councillor).

The City still preserves its customs and rights but is very hard-nosed about money. The bridges that cross the Thames into the City of London are not paid for by taxes but by rents from City land. The charity that pays for the bridges was set up in the Middle Ages and still makes more money than it needs. Who else but the City of London would sell a second-hand bridge?

One of the Guilds still employs crossing sweepers to sweep the muck away from the street when the Guild's leaders go to church. There hasn't been any muck since horses were replaced by motor vehicles but why change?

Even the City's Police force is separate.

The Queen and the Prime Minister have to ask the Lord Mayor before they can enter the City. Imagine refusing The President access to New York unless he asked nicely?
