Oh come on now. This tired old song again? Suddenly we have the Bush Administration drug warriors up there in the Beltway conducting their little photo-ops for the media. They're trying to drive home the point that certain people engaged in the manufacturer and distribution of illegal drugs are putting their profits into the Islamic Jihadist (terrorist) movement.
Well, why not? Look at the profit there is in drugs! On some drugs the profit can be as high as 17,000% (and no, I didn't put too many zeros there.)
Look --- I'm on vacation. So we'll make this short and to the point. We'll do it step-by-step.
The reason these drug operations have so much money to pass off to the Islamic Jihadists is because the profit margin is so high in the illegal drug business.
The reason the profit margin is so high in the illegal drug business is because drugs are illegal.
The easiest way to stop this flow of money to the terrorists is to take away the incredibly high profits one can make from illegal drugs.
The quickest way to eliminate the high profit margin is to make these drugs LEGAL!
Face it. There are only two ways to eliminate these huge profits. One is to eliminate either demand or supply. We're trying that now and it just doesn't work. It's hideously expensive -- and it doesn't work! When are we going to wise up and realize that we can reduce drug usage in this country much quicker, and at much less expense, by legalizing the damned things and spending about one-half of the money we spend on the drug war on simple drug treatment!
Get off your moral high horses, folks! It's time to put some common sense into this equation.
