Dreams Underfoot: UnquietDreams' Dark Whimsy

I love ballet. I did it for years, but not en pointe. It’s also a big part of the reason why I hate feet :x You don’t want to see underneath those pointe shoes!
I did ballet (and jazz) for two years as a theater arts major, so I have seen a lot of ballet dancer's feet (advantage of being one of the few straight guys in my class...😈 ) And my ex was a dancer and ballet teacher (she chose to pursue nursing rather than furthering her dancing, but it was a tough choice. A school opened up a place for her.) So I well know the joy of a dancer's feet.

Luckily NMK. But flexibility did have some benifits...

"And there is a Catskill eagle in some souls that can alike dive down into the blackest gorges, and soar out of them again and become invisible in the sunny spaces. And even if he forever flies within the gorge, that gorge is in the mountains; so that even in his lowest swoop the mountain eagle is still higher than other birds upon the plain, even though they soar.”
--Herman Melville, Moby-Dick

I have heard and read numerous arguments for and against classic literature, and making kids read things like Moby-Dick. They are old, dead, white guys. This is about a dude hunting a whale and "revenge is bad," and we know that and why read it? But I still remember reading that passage above at 17. And it still echos, it still reverberates, it still comes to mind, and affects how I see people in my life today. It is one of the books that I love to share, that helped form who I am and was and will be. It has worth.
