My favorite pair of bellbottoms, which I think I got in 6th or 7th grade, were a dusty rose in color, hip huggers, and had 4 buttons in the fly.

HOT PANTS!
I had a pair of dark purple button front hot pants my freshman year in HS. Loved them :D

Oops! I loved Nancy's song...that one and "Son of a Preacher Man"...

My first bellbottoms were purple...probably would have been called "Barney" if I would have tried to wear something like that now...lol!! We weren't aloud to wear pants to school til I was in the 5th grade, and they had to be coordinated pantsuits...mom started making me all kinds...had "ponchos" to go with some of them...was the first girl in my grade school to wear anything with fringe...was a purse my older cousin got me...leather with fringe strings...was called the first hippy of Malta grade school...lol!! I wore that title with pride...I thought hippies were cool!!!

Billy-ray was a preacher's son
And when his daddy would visit he'd come along
When they gathered round and started talkin'
That's when billy would take me walkin'
A-through the back yard we'd go walkin'
Then he'd look into my eyes
Lord knows to my surprise

The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, mmm, yes he was

Being good isn't always easy
No matter how hard i try
When he started sweet-talkin' to me
He'd come and tell me everything is all right
He'd kiss and tell me everything is all right
Can i get away again tonight?

The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, lord knows he was

How well i remember
The look that was in his eyes
Stealin' kisses from me on the sly
Takin' time to make time
Tellin' me that he's all mine
Learnin' from each other's knowing
Lookin' to see how much we've grown

And the only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, oh, yes he was
He was the sweet-talking son of a preacher man
I guessed he was the son of a preacher man
Sweet-lovin' son of a preacher man
Ahh, move me

My first pair of bell bottoms I think I was like in the first grade and they were red cordurouy and they fit snugly to my knee and then flared out real big. And my hip huggers were orange and I wore them with a black shirt. I guess I was always ready for Halloween. I used to have lots of fringe.

Do you remember the gaucho's. You know we had coulottes, gauchos, scooter skirts, skorts, not much telling what they will be called next!

Baby doll swimsuits! I think I had one of those, the fabric that came down from the top was kind of sheer like the suit at left.

Mom never would let me have hot pants, but there were times that the blue jeans shorts got rolled up a bit more;) :D and one time my ex was going to cut off a pair of jeans into shorts for me. They made Daisy Duke's shorts look modest!!!

Why I ought to...Nyuck nyuck nyuck! The Stooges are still my faves! Red Skelton with the seagulls, Gertrude and Heathcliff, always cracked me up....he was a master of improv.

On that note, do you remember cars made of heavy sheet metal? I remember riding my bike into our 50s bubble car once, and it didn't leave a dent.

When I was growing up--I had five sci-fi shows that I loved--Lost In Space, The Time Tunnel, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, The Outer Limits, and The Twilight Zone. (Some of these are more mainstream, but how many people remember ALL of these?! LOL)

In later years, (since I loved Rod Serling)...does anyone remember Night Gallery? It was an hour-long show with collection of stories narrated by Serling...I wonder whether they ever put that series out on tape of DVD???
