DO YOU REMEMBER...

I don't remember the first show we saw on color tv, I remember that my grandmother had been very sick and knew that she did not have long to live and we did not have a tv and dad could not do without a tv so she gave us hers. I remember the Bonanza opening and and the map burning and thinking that is was so cool. I also remember my mom making the comment that the shows that look the best were the cartoons!

Remember these?? How about the ugliest AMC vehicle..the Pacer? Or the Roadrunner? Or the Duster? Or Ford's 'exploder car", the Pinto? Or the Chevy Vega or Corvair? Still remember watching TV as a kid and seeing commercials for a new Vega for $1995...it wasn't worth that much! LOL

Used to watch the Batman series just before dinner every day after school, too. I remember the shows 'Route 66' and 77 Sunset Strip each filmed one episode in our town, which is still a big deal here to this day. lol

I still love the old Hawaiian Punch commercial..."How about a nice Hawaiian punch?! :D" Some other commercials that I remember...the Wrigley Doublemint Twins, Starkist/Charlie Tuna (Sorry Charlie, we don't want tuna with good taste--we want tuna that taste good!), Brylcreem (a little dab'll do ya), Calgon--Take me away!, I want my Maypo, Ay Yi Yi Yi Yi--I am the Frito Bandito, and "I'd walk a mile for a Camel."

Yes, in fact when I was married we had a pacer, a vega and my husband's fave Roadrunner!!!! I remember the pinto and duster, not the corvair, but remember hearing about it.

I always watched Batman, too. Never saw Route 66, just heard about it, and 77 Sunset Strip, I don't recall that one either.

Loved Charlie Tuna and Punchie!!!! Brylcreem, Calgon- take me away, I still say that sometimes!!!! And I loved the Frito Bandito!
The doublemint was cute and amazing how many twins that they found. I also liked the Certs commercials where they hit them together and say 2, 2 mints in one! I liked the Marlboro man!!

Don Johnson (Miami Vice and Nash Bridges) was the original Marlboro Man.

Hey now, don't be dissing the Pinto.....lol My very first car was a brand new 1979 Pinto, metalic green, hatchback....by then they had that exploding problem under control though. :)

Batman was awesome. I loved that show....lol @ the memories of those commericials you mentioned.

A few other commercials,

Remember these ads?

"Take it off... take it all off with Noxema Medicated Shave." That one was pretty racy for its day.

"The Man from Glad."

"Mr. Clean"

"Madge the Manicurist"

And Rosie with the Bounty paper towels!

Also, "Plop,Plop, fizz, oh what a relief it is" Alka Seltzer, we chanted that as we marched out after graduation because they told us it was bad behavior to throw our caps up!!!!!!!!!!

Then there was the little oven thing, can't remember what it was called now. Mine made flowers and butterflies and I think his made spiders and worms and such...you would pour this liquid in a mold, run it through the machine and you would have these rubber like decorations. Wish I could remember the name but I think I have been on too many pain pills of late and have lost a little of my memory...lol!

Great thread, Arden! Brings back lots of memories!!!
CREEPY CRAWLERS!!!

I used to have a family of creepy crawler lizards in my desk when I was in 4th grade. Jimmy M., the boy next to me, has some too. We kept them in cardboard jewelry boxes with the cotton still in it. :D

I loved the skeleton mold, it came with glow in the dark plastigoop.

I don't remember those shows but I remember Laugh In. I also remember the fishnet hose and also lacy hose for dress up occassions and then of course, had the regular opague "tights" that we called panty hose to make us feel older, more mature. But I had I think every color under the rainbow. I had a pair for every outfit that I owned. I thought I was one hot little girl. I remember I think I was in the 6th grade I had some tights that were like a sweater. And someone had given me this off white sweater dress with a turtleneck collar and I wore red "sweater hose" with it. Not only did I think I looked hot, it made the walk to school in the winter alot better.
Fishnets and Windowpane hosiery! I begged my Mom for a pair of fishnets for ages. When I finally got them, I was dismayed to find out I needed a garter belt to wear them. They were SO ugly and uncomfortable... (back then, anyway)

My wife's first car was a brand new 1975 Gremlin. She was so proud of that car and I worked so hard later to keep it running.

A co-worker of mine had a Pinto at the time of the Ford lawsuit from the explosion. We had a fake bumper sticker made up and put it on his hatch window. It read, "Close Cover Before Striking." We thought it was funnier than he did, as I recall.

I forgot one of my fave TV shows...Hawaii Five-O! (I waited the whole show for "Book 'em, Dan-O!) LOL

Also, remember the Coke commercial..."It's the Real thing?"

Just couldn't resist...my first car was a 71 Pinto. It was like a bumper car from Coney Island !

Yep, my brother had one of those. I hated it! Probably because I'm arachnophobic!!!! The lizards were ok, just not the spiders!

Another coke commercial where they had a bunch of ppl from all over the world and they sang the song "I'd like to teach the world to sing".

We watched Hawaii 5-0 also and the Streets of San Francisco. Starsky and Hutch and of course, the original Charilie's Angels.
TJ Hooker, Dragnet and S.W.A.T, Kojak. Perry Mason.

When my younger brother was a kid, we were at school, after the noon news went off they had cartoons on and everyday they would have this commercial for 7-11 on and my brother would holler at my mom and say "Mom, Oh Thank Heaven for 7-11 is on"
she would laugh at him, that was how he knew he could watch the cartoons.

Oh to remember...
Hi tn! There's a great website all about Howdy Doody and the gang... http://www.howdydoodytime.com/index.html :D

Neat website, it has original sound recordings, animations, and lots of things to look at while you stroll down memory lane.

Another fond memory: the Sky King show. I always did have the hots for Penny. And that show definitely sparked my interest in airplanes.

I think my first album was one of those 60's conglomerations with anyone from the Spinners, Tina and Ike, to the Rolling Stones. Loved singing and dancing around the family room to it...the other one would have been "Jesus Christ, Superstar" another one that I could sing word for word to.

OMG sassy I thought I was the only one who used to sing "Jesus Christ Superstar" word for word from beginning to end!!

My first album is going to date me here..."Zip A Dee Doo Dah" by the Dave Clark 5.

AA...there is nothing wrong with the Corvair...I have a 66 Corvair monza in great shape!!

Lloyd Bridges rocked!

Here's a few more--The Rifleman (Chuck Connors), Gilligan's Island (I can STILL name all the castaways), Newlywed Game, Dating Game, and the Beverly Hillbillies.

We used to always watch Sea Hunt. And then later we always watch Jacque Cousteau? Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel,Wonderful World of Disney, they have come back out with that. It used to be on Sunday nights and now I think it is on Saturday nights. Here is one for Jenny and Oman, Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom! Daktari. Does anyone remember F-Troop and Branded?
