I also believe that if possession of rights is predicated on some conditions, then it’s possible the fetus meets those conditions. But the fetus is biologically dependent on its mother, so there’s no question whose rights outweigh the other’s.

I am fully aligned with the woman always taking priority until birth. I will always defer that to anyone facing an unwanted pregnancy or anyone facing that choice.

When I was younger, I was under the impression that viability was a compromise that made sense to everyone and therefore would allow everyone to work on improving/subsidizing care and expenses involved for women who may choose to pursue that. However, that has proven to be a false belief and it's now obvious that the only pursuit is fetal personhood from conception due to religious belief. I will continue to lobby my representatives for full abortion rights and control over her own body for a woman up until birth. After birth, I will lobby for subsidies and support for maternal/baby care to those who need it. I am not swayed or discouraged by any ruling and if I'm able to support a woman seeking an abortion in any way, I will do so, regardless of where I'm located.

Let me put this in a nutshell. I'm not brilliant enough to know if a fetus is a person. But suppose it were. Can one person demand to live inside another person? Suppose I went up to some woman on the street and tried to crawl into her uterus. She'd have me arrested and rightly so. If the fetus wants to be a person, then get the hell out of there and go be a person.

It's 2022 and we're still reproducing the way humans did when they first walked the savannas of Africa. That's ridiculous. We need our great minds to get on this problem ASAP instead of inventing apps to order pizza.

Women are not paid for pregnancy, nor is their medical care provided. Nor food or shelter. All of these things she must provide for herself. Depending on one's insurance - and it varies wildly - she will have a bill for roughly $6k. Or more. There's no benefit package after giving birth either.

Another element of our imbalanced society where we can force women into service - without one bit of compensation or consideration. But not men.

The comparison of the draft to pregnancy is silly. Yes, death, physical injury both temporary and permanent, and PTSD etc. are all possible traumatic outcomes of serving in the military. And yes, the state fails to accommodate women at a rate commensurate with the burden of pregnancy and childrearing, and pregnancy is also potentially traumatic. But trying to make a one-to-one comparison of the two to rationalize forced pregnancy is gross and dishonest.
