Yeah, if you're in a race. We have a huge canoe marathon in our northern part of the state. Those paddlers are amazing.

And running into underwater stumps or rocks is not a problem.

I don't understand. I paddle moving water so I don't HAVE to paddle so hard to get somewhere.

Actually no rocks, But I bottomed out a couple times on underwater logs or big clumps of old reed root masses, or something.

I was able to scoot the whole canoe inch by inch and get through.

That's what they're for. The bottoms of my canoes have countless gouges and scratches in them. They aren't art pieces. I've been thinking of building a stripper, but I don't know if I want to have to care for it, too.

A cedar strip built boat. Pretty easy to build the cedar core, then you coat it with epoxy and glass.......they are pretty.....

Serious? The water I was in ws that clear, beneath the gunk on top. Of course I was in the backwaters, the middle of the lakes were crystal clear...spring fed.

Hunting season here, makes them really skittish.
