Did you buy a new Camera? Isn't that a Kayak?

What is the difference between a canoe and a kayak?

I always used to think that you sat ON a kayak and IN a canoe, but now I know you can get kayaks you can sit IN.

I have a sit on kayak and an inflatable, sit in kayak.

So, what is the difference?

Canoe? Sorry, I was momentarily stunned by those Jesus sandals!

lol..Jesus?

I love those sandals...after I got back I hosed my legs and feet down.

They dry really fast.

Anyway...there were 3 lakes connected by canals and backwater swampy areas...I went to two:

I do, I do! Got a solo and a kevlar Minnesota II. :)D - yeah, lucky me. Got a good deal on it, too. :D )

PS. Crocs are also great for canoe trips. Mario Battali turned me on to that one.

Nice...

I didn't have to do any portaging, otherwise a kevlar would have been preferable.

Jesus, the guy who was born of a virgin, was persecuted throughout his whole life. Walked the desert for 40 days. Who died for MY sins, and who was resurrected from the dead. That one.

Who believes this stuff???

Typically, a canoe has no top decks. It is completely open on top and depends on it's thwarts (the rigid braces running from one side to the other) for structural strength.

A classic kayak has a hull that merges continuously into an enclosed top deck in both bow and stern, with a small cockpit opening in which the paddler sits or kneels. The inflatables and plastic sit-on-top kayaks you've experienced aren't really kayaks, but they are even less similar to canoes, so, they had to call them something, and since they are typically single paddler conveyances, the kayak label stuck.
