I can't help thinking...did not feeding the trolls result in stuff like Intelligent Design being put into science classes?

What's your view on not feeding the trolls?

Sometimes I feed them, sometimes I don't, sometimes I agree with them, sometimes I don't.

In reality, does ignoring a part of the population genuinely deny them power, or does it give them the latitude they need to work unhindered? Which kind of troll should be fed, which type should be fed poison, which type should be not a troll? What is the responsibility of a person of good will versus a person of destructive will?

Your thoughts?

Ironically I won't listen to some of you here. Them's the breaks.

That is a problem with the board. I just use the ignore function.

I have a lot of people on ignore so I don't see the threads they make, but I do tend to talk to people in threads I make.

I'm considering snubbing more people and I'm wondering if that's rude or wise. Depends on the person, obviously, but the bigger question is why would I ignore someone entirely and not respond to them. Why would someone else do that or not do that.

See, that's the problem. One of the trolls here created a decent thread, but BECAUSE it was a decent thread, I didn't know it had been created by said troll. So I put her on ignore and the thread disappeared. So that sucked.

If someone's a genuinely bad person there's no point in interacting with them.

Of course you wont

Like all LIBZ, you have no problem shoving shit down peeps faces and IGNORING ALL ELSE

Oh, goo ahead and pretend you want INTELLIGENT CONVERSATION

What you want to talk abut is BUNNY SLIPPERS

I do have a cheat factor. My husband doesn't have anybody on ignore and will let me know if there's anything interesting going on. That's not to say that I don't miss lots of good content. I do.

It's to avoid collateral damage.

The more relevant question is:

Why would anyone care if an adult who intentionally cybered with a minor, and then met him personally when he was 16 and fooled around with him in the front seat of a car...

...ignored another poster or not?

BECAUSE THEN THE GODDAMN GAMING THREAD DISAPPEARS!!

I think I can get along with you if I realize you are deeply sensitive, but then you get over it fairly quickly and are on to the next thing, though that doesn't mean you've dropped the previous thing, it just means that you have a lot of caring to do and you can't do it all simultaneously.

If I tell you how I feel once and then pretty much drop it, we'll be okay. I don't think you're a troll, I think you care a lot about small things. Which is something you said yourself and isn't an insult.

One poster's troll is another poster's best friend anywhere.

It depends on perspective.

I have a twitchy iggy finger these days. Most of the ones that I have defined as trolls are just another couple lines of txt in between the people that I want to read.

You would represent one side of the spectrum where I'm a bit more in the middle.

You don't troll anyone (I have tried to do that and mostly succeeded, though I could get better at it) and you have restraint and intelligence.

I have the intelligence, mostly, I'd like to consider this restraint thing. Seems promising.

I have to get over my idea that everybody deserves to be heard. I might qualify it by still believing everybody deserves to be heard, just not necessarily by me.

My method is flawed. Somebody shows up and starts five threads about chat being down is tossed on iggy. Possibly that poster will have something of value to offer in a few days. I will miss out on it. Maybe the dude that selects a picture of his erection for his av posts good stuff. I will miss out on that, too.

They can still be heard. Laurel has made that possible. Yay! She also gave me the tools to create my own Lit reality. The best of both worlds.

Yup, that's where I'm headed. I've got less "mom" in my life these days and I'm reconsidering how much mom I've put into this site. Now that the choice is available.

Malvolio!

By the gods, I say!

So, f'rinstance...

I can understand Candi wanting to talk about games and cats...but not why he would do so with me if he truly believed all the horrible stuff he believes of me.

I can understand Eyer taking offense at me...if he truly believed all the horrible stuff he thinks I did...but I can't understand the compulsion to repeat it at every manufactured opportunity.

I genuinely don't like you. I think you're a horrible person. You're racist and sexist. Apparently you fuck underaged teens, you don't care about the feelings of your own children. It has nothing to do with me being sensitive.

But I want to read what Remy and Sean have to say about gaming.

You're not the only person who posts in the threads you start.

yes, god bless laurel for inventing the internet and making all of this possible.

Cockatars used to be common. Not so much anymore. Thank goodness.

RECIDIVA yearns to be like the dolt at AH who put me on IGGY then warned folks not to read the treasure map I posted. That is, she didn't read it, and assumed it was JBJ nonsense, but it wasn't. So she looked like a fool. And eventually made a half-assed apology. HOW DID I KNOW IT WAS SOMETHING GOOD! HUH! HUH!

RECIDIVA flatters herself with her relevance.
