DNC Platform Committee Member: Nobody Should Own a Gun

Yes.

Take away all rights and then blame the victim.

This is not quite the case. They are saying, by their action, that their life is of incalculable value whereas yours is of little, or no, value at all.

I happen to agree that concealed carry is a States Rights issue. On the other hand, what about 'open carry?' The laws passed in CA. are, and have always been, based on the notion that certain elites have the right to protect themselves but John Q. Citizen doesn't. A philosophy that would seem to be more consistent with what the democrats accuse the republicans of holding on to.

As far as the platform is concerned, that, at least, is consistent with the democrat mantra. Of course in practice you know there would be exceptions for certain classes. But the blanket "no one should own a gun" at least has the merit of being a arguable philosophy. The problem, of course, is that pesky second amendment. But assuming that they choose to ignore that obstacle they are faced with the very real task of trying to implement their philosophy without sparking a revolution.

To be honest I really do wish they'd write that into the platform.

Like the RNC banning guns from the GOP convention, you mean?
