Good Morning :rose:
So what do you do with your Day besides Dr. Appointments ;)

Right now it's mostly Dr. appointments - I have one today with my PCP. Tomorrow I have physical therapy. I go to one of the music venues near me a lot. I'm steps from Powell Hall where the St. Louis Symphony plays, the Fox theater and 2 live jazz venues.

Just called Mom to tell her NOT to believe anything Jim Cantore tells her
on the weather channel since he's in Florida now.

Smiling is good for you ;):)
Good Morning DGO :rose: so are you going anywhere for the long Wknd?
if you do, enjoy if not Iam sure you find something fun to do @ Home :)

Good afternoon!

Yes smiling is good for you! It confuses my physical therapist. I laugh when it hurts too..

I haven't celebrated labor day since 1970 (I started teaching that year and always had tons of things to prepare for the 1st day.) It wasn't a big deal when I was a child either. Our big summer holiday was July 4. I might catch a movie if my knees and back give their permission. :D

Stay safe and don't over eat.

What events do you attend in Grand Center?

Nice! I've attended the Fox & Symphony on occasion.

You don't live near that neat Continental Building, do you?

Yes, the Continental is on Olive, about 3 blocks from me. The Dark Room is fairly new. It's a photo gallery and features live jazz. The best thing is there's no cover charge!

Cool. Thanks for the heads up!

You're welcome!

At one time I went so often, that my drink was put in front of me as soon as I sat down. There's live music every night. My usual night is Thursday. I used to go on Wednesday too, but Kasimu Taylor doesn't start his set until 9. He lets high school and college kids sit in and that's always a lot of fun. Montez Coleman put a group together. He's a great drummer and he showed it last week. He's also a fun, crazy guy. I was at Jazz at the Bistro last Friday night. The group did fusion jazz and it was wonderful. Unfortunately I can't remember what they played. A high school classmate treated me, so I don't have the ticket. It was nice to have people speak to you because they remember you from the Dark Room or being at the Bistro.

Nice that you live so close to a happenin' district. I'm too far away to frequent any of these places, but I'll definitely try to stop in when I can.

There's a new hotel opening next door to 3rd Baptist. I can't remember the name, but they've been working on the building for a few months! That could make for a nice weekend.

There are recent rumors that Julie Andrews did a concert for AARP (The American Association of Retired Persons). Ms. Andrews sang a favorite from the Sound of Music, "Favorite Things". There were a few changes to the words, to fit in with the AARP theme.

Here are the new words to this tune:

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Cadillacs and cataracts and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.
Hot tea and crumpets, and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinning,
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinning,
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.
When the joints ache, when the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
I simply remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.
