DGO's New Unthread!

KNOWING YOUR SPOUSE

One of the funniest memories I have of the trials and tribulations of making the journey from childhood to adulthood was our annual summer vacation trek from Chicago to a cabin usually someplace on a lake in Wisconsin or Michigan.
Every year, it seems, we would get on a highway a few miles out of the city, and mom would wail, "Oh my goodness! I think left the iron on." And almost every year we would turn around and go back. But as I recall, not once was it was ever plugged in. She often had the same fear that all our earthly possessions would disappear in a fire caused by her forgetfulness.

When I was about 14 years old, we were headed out of Chicago for Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and, sure enough, Mom gasped, "I just know I left the iron on."

My father didn't say a word, just pulled over onto the shoulder of the road, got out, opened the trunk and handed her the iron.

I was at a stop light, behind a car with a bumper sticker that said "Honk if you love Jesus."

So I honked. The driver leaned out his window, gave me an very impolite gesture, and yelled, "Can't you see the light is still red, you MORON!?"

Back and forth...back and forth. In and out...in and out. A little to the right...a little to the left. She could feel the sweat on her forehead, between her breasts and trickling down the small of her back.

She was getting near to the end. He was in ecstasy with a huge smile on his face as his wife moved... Forwards then backwards...forward then backward... Again...and again!

Her heart was pounding now...Her face was flushed...She groaned... softly at first, then began to groan louder.

Finally, totally exhausted, she let out a piercing scream, "OK, you smug bastard, so I can't parallel park. You do it!"

Good Morning DGO:)-:rose:
Stopping in to say Hi and wish you a great Wknd:)

I am SO HAPPY to see you back here where we can be ourselves!!!! Not that I didn't appreciate the blessing of being included in the acceptable group at the other place... But I LOVE watching you post it like it is straight up here.

I've been off more then on the last 3 weeks. Sent you a PM on that. I'm trying to get it together. Got the panic attacks and crying jags down to just a couple times a week and those are just heat / stress overloads mainly. There is a special place in Hell for my slumlords and people like them.

Welcome Back Home!!!! :rose: :rose: :rose:

Karma will take care of them!

One of my students just had a baby. I missed her post about her registry, so by the time I got there, most stuff was gone. I ended up buying her a lot of little stuff and giving her a gift certificate. She was surprised!!!! I told her it was Karma! She was a delightful child. Always smiling. Always did great work. It was a class that I really enjoyed. Karma pays the good and the bad!

I hope Karma takes a nice big bite out of them.

I have one friend / neighbor who is flippin driving me nuts. She likes to think of herself as a "picker" which means she is nosey & wants in here bad to dig thru my stuff. She tried before surgery & asked to "borrow" a couple things I will never see again. She tried to come in with one of her kids once I was back from surgery (the very same hour I was back home) & I kicked her out. Seriously I need sleep from surgery & you bring your kid over like it's a house party. I've not let her in since & she wants in here bad. I'm ready to put her on auto reject on my cell to stop the texts, PMs & calls.

I think you did better for the new mommy with the small stuff & gift cert. It's the little things you seem to need like the binkies & bibs or stuff that suddenly comes up & you are short money on... so that fits in perfectly.

Hey have you been hurting due to the arthritis you are dealing with???
Post surgery I went back to using food to help with the inflammation.
My go to is pineapple. Doesn't matter if it is canned or fresh.

Yes! I'll try the pineapple. Until I was diagnosed with diabetes, I ate pineapple all the time. My blood sugar levels are so good that my PCP cut my meds in half and I still have great numbers!

My blood sugar levels go up with my pain levels.
As long as we can control the pain levels I'm pretty good
but not as good as you are doing.

i have friends who have managed to drop the meds altogether. They still have to take their blood sugar twice a day though.

PSA - There's something wrong with frozen green beans! Seriously. Today was the 3rd consecutive time that mine burned. I managed to salvage some, but the others are stuck to the bottom of the pot. More pot scrubbing is in my future.

I dont check my sugar just take the meds and watch what I eat but more importantly watch my pain levels really hard.

There is an old book I used as a guide on the inflammation called The War within by Dr Floyd Chilton. They updated the book but an older copy is just a couple bucks on Amazon. The first third is nutrition science, the food lists is the next third and last is recipes. I just followed the lists in the beginning plus a couple supplements they suggest. It worked so well my Rheumatology doctor said there wasn't anything she could do to help me since the good was doing it. The rest were all structural ortho issues.

That's my normal cooking....

Well I kicked off this week with 90 minutes of physical therapy this morning.
I figured I'd push things hard and run 2 errands then come home to laundry.
We had rain last night so I was able to sleep in cooler temps.
I'm still really tired today after all this stuff this morning.

Rethread

Welcome back. We are a team. Without each other we'd never survive. Got so old we moved from our dream home in Florida back to the midwest to be nearer family and the few old old friends still left. 60th HS reunion next April if we make it.

Most young people think we are just taking up space.
The old ones can't remember who we are or why we're here.
Those in between keep taking my handicap space and the electric scooters because they are so fat and lazy they no longer can walk to buy junk food.
Politically correct my ass! Git off my lawn boy!

Hell, I missed all of page two here. We are in and from Illinois. Camped many times at Illinois Beach park and around Lake Geneva. Even went to a party at the original Playboy Club. I was younger and better looking back then.

More Stuff

Never been on Facebook and never will. Stop over and tell us when your dog gets sick or send an e-mail.

As for food, wife has short term dementia and rarely fixes meals. In Florida we existed on TV dinners and pot pies. Now that we are back in the civilized world we get Meals-On-Wheels five days a week. All prepared by the local hospital and placed right on the kitchen counter by Candy. We split one meal for lunch and dinner.
Weekends our three kids bring their left overs. No pots, pans, burned beans, or anything to worry about.

I also did 90 minutes of pain and torture today!

I like Facebook a lot. There's no way I could have connected with as many of my students as I have. I started teaching kindergarten in 1970 and I talk to someone from that class almost every day. I belong to several closed groups and those I enjoy. One is all about Music. One is for my high school class - class of '66! We're celebrating our 50th. I also have a group for the kids I taught at Hamilton. Facebook, like everything else is what you make it.

The nurse called me today and she will be here after PT on Thursday!!!!
I really hope she can help. This has just been too much to deal with alone.

I ended up taking a nap today after I made it home.
I tried to work in a couple errands between PT and home.
I used up the extra energy carrying boxes and driving
but that's 2 more items checked off the list.

Very true. Most the Troop Support help come thru contacts using Facebook.
I also use it to check in as a digital trail if I have to go anywhere that
I don't know the store staff or people where I am going to.
