There is going to be considerable contamination in Iraq with all of these types of shells being lobbed around. Any RTCs (radiological control technicians) needing work that are willing to live in Iraq will have the chance to make some big dollars in the near future.
Our troops handle depleted uranium shells with great care. Respirators and anti-contamination clothing as well as boundries set up to separate consumables and ammo. When these shells explode the contamination is 1000 times backround on the impact site and 100 times backround within the blast zone. Those amounts are quite high and should be cleaned up, even more so around people and food.
Military equipment guru I am not. Are these shells worth the extra costs?
