Liza ...

You betch'a. :D

But I can't help it as remember a special 'first' for me ... yes, it was long ago and far away (ok so it was a few months ago on another thread) about this woman suggesting she was so bored she had start watching the 'packages' coming through the door. I cuckled out loud when this woman said my message had made her day. I'll never forget that moment. ;)

Where's the beer vendor?

In any decent ballpark it wouldn't take six innings to get a fresh beer. Oh I forgot, this is Yankee Stadium. :p

At least I have my Red Sox cap, some peanuts, popcorn, and Crackerjack. :D

*sits all alone waaaaaaaay out in left field* When I used to watch baseball...I rooted for the Cardinals.

And I used to play third base, oddly enough. ;)

Let's see....do we let Shoshi play for the Red Sox fans (since the Sox will most likely meet the Cubs in the World Series this year and thus a Cardinals fan would be an ally) or do we think back to that excruciating loss to the Cardinals in 1967?....but she's simply too nice a person to play for any group associated with the Yankees....yep, that's it! Shoshi, you can play left field for us. :D

No doubt. And then there are those sports where balls are secondary (or nonexistent, as in hockey). ;)

SLAP shots...
You've been watching Secretary too many times. Perhaps a movie with less violence should be on your list for the weekend - let me suggest another Spader movie instead: Crash.

mmmmm loved that one too....
I see we have similar taste in movies.... we both love love stories..LOL:p
Finally, the thread returns to its original purpose.

OK - a new and entertaining question for readers: what's your favorite movie in which love is featured strongly - and why? I say it this way to avoid limiting the answers to ones that are essentially pure love stories.

I'll start with my all-time favorite (but I have many others on my list that I will share as we go along): A Man and a Woman. It must be seen in its original French with a good glass of wine. The sequence that brings me back to this movie over and over is when the male lead drives through the night to see his new lover - after having just completed a 24-hour road rally in his job as a professional race-car driver.

well my vote for all time best love story / as portrayed by a movie, is, ... "Shawshank Redemption"

ya, i know there is no sex, ... but it is ... "pure caring for the other person ..."

but whatdaIknow,

oh yeah, didn't a-rod, the 25 million dollar guy go 1 for 17 last week end against the Red Sox?? hmmmmm can you spell choke?

be well all, shy

Fascinating choice of movie, Shy.

As for the one-and-only A-Rod, I'll take your word for it on his hitting stats. It's so good to see Steinbrenner getting his money's worth, don't you think?

Defining Love
It's time to pose a few questions and open up a place for some serious discussion of an important topic: love.

To begin: What is your definition of love?

*Real love is something that most only experience once in their lives, I was lucky had it for a short time but his memory gets me through hard times.

What experiences helped shape your definition?
*Love is kindness, it does not hurt, it is there to comfort you during your bleakest time, it does not know anger, it has patience

What have you read that helped form your definition?
*Nothing I lived it, a book can not show you how to love, love has its own book that only it knows

Taking familial love as a given, what other forms of love can you identify?
*family love, friend love, lust love,

What are the limits on loving?
*There aren't any limits

Can we love more than one person at a time (again, all outside the category of familial love)?
*Oh yes, and it is very confusing and hurts no matter what.

What freedom do we gain through love?
*Love does not confine you or own you it helps you to grow
What constraints do we take on through love?
*Well you can't very well bring someone home you met at the local bar and expect there not to be repercussions

What is the difference between being in love and loving someone?
* I love my mother, my kids, I am in love with my mate, although I would give my life for all of them, but with the one I love I want to be with, feel them as close to me as one can get, just holding each other in bed and laughing, little things that remind you of that special person.

I guess that will do for starters.

*and a great start it was

:)

Love Story, and I still cry when I watch it.

EW, welcome to the thread. :rose:

I like the idea that love has its own book.

(edited to remove the question that EW answered while I was posting)

SAY ANYTHING, I have always thought that actions speak louder than wordsl. Boom box, "IN YOUR EYES" need I say more.

I have to say my very favorite "love story" was with Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage.... "City of Angels"

"And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies"
~snip~
GooGoo Dolls- "Iris"

This song that goes along with the movie touches my soul each time I hear it... I know it's not "real" but the sentiments are gut wrenching.... ~sigh~
