Defining Love

LadyShianne said:
It may be what some will call "lust"....but the people involved tend to call it Love... & one or the other (or both) tend to believe it's true love... which is what matters. The one may want the first blush of love constantly.. but when it wears off, they lose interest...lust? maybe... or just misconstrued love. Either way, it happens.. & someone may get "heartbroken" over it. Doesn't make it any less real.

Amen, Sista!!! :rose:  :D

Love is th Trinity a us! An th others' support a th Return a Wyldfire ta th dance floor ta make th boys cry!!!!!!!!:D

Love is the attachment you feel when you come to know the good in a person.

This definition has helped me to realize that I am capable of love.

Now a new question to ponder - for those who like to ponder.

What is it about firsts - first loves of any kind - that gives them such enduring appeal in our lives?

For example, I can still remember my first crush, the first girl I ever kissed, and so on. Yet no doubt I would never be able to name every girl I ever kissed, etc. So what is it about that first one that keeps him or her special to us over the years?

Yank....what about the FIRST time one EVER had an affair or was unfaithful ..is that something one will remember too??? and i can name everyone I kissed....

When I first posed the question, I was thinking that in our love lives we experience a variety of firsts. So I suppose this would be another that would be persistent in memory.

I, however, can't name all those I have kissed. Will have to duck behind the cover of college beer as an explanation. ;)

He he he Sorry ta drop Off topic again all but I jus had ta say DAMN! Nice AV DLL:D

*feels awkward....* I cannot even name all the guys I've...number them...yeah...name them...no. And the guys I've...cannot even number those...KISSED?!?! Only G-d knows that one.

Damsel, yep yep yep. Love is the trinity. Especially when we are together, whether it be physically or mentally. ;)

I think the thing about firsts is that it's new....A new rush of feelings, a new person, a new beginning.....That tends to stick in your mind longer.

I also remember my first real crush, my first kiss and the first time I was truly in love. It's silly but I can name every guy I've ever kissed or been involved with. They all left lasting impressions on me in some way.

There was also a first time you tried broccoli as a child and yet how many of us remember that with fondness? Besides me, I mean. ;)

I don't mean to give you a hard time, charmed1. In fact, welcome to the thread. :rose:

Maybe the secret lies in the complexity of relationships.

Uh, oh, it's theory time.

Here's what I am thinking: because relationships are complex, the psychological energy that goes into establishing them leaves a large pattern of stored events in the brain. The first such experience establishes a sort of baseline map against which all later such experiences are gauged. Chances are, the excitement and intensity of the first time is rarely matched again, leaving us with part of the original experience map always in place.

Any takers?

When it comes to love relationships, I think the firsts stay with us for so many reasons. The excitment for sure, but the transition into a new level of life is very heady. We would naturally remember that, although not clearly as time wears on, but those firsts will always have a special place within each of us. And for the record, I remember every man I've kissed too, I think! LOL

Now as for broccoli Yank.... you, my friend, have crossed over some weird line I don't want to know about!! And you better be nice to my friend Charmed..... she is terrific!

;)

A weird line - just because I like broccoli?

And of course I will be nice to your friend charmed1 - I'm nice to everyone who has the kindness to post here.
