Dearest, most precious Laurel...

So... wait a moment...

Did you just declare the German forum a Kindergarten?

And you are children who need to be managed?

Now it makes more sense.

As sad as it sounds: yes.

I would love more freedom and tolerance, if freedom wasn't interpreted as "the duty to saw on other people's nerves until everybody pukes".

Listen, Byron, if I call you a cunt, you're happy with that.

If you call a German a cunt, he decides not to listen to you or to not take you seriously.
Exactly. We have different modes of expression, and Americans are probably more extreme.

I know, these Germans are strange, but that's the way it is. The sound makes the music. Peter isn't on a rampage, he's on a prevailing trip.
That's a better way to say it, I suppose.

Tolerance comes with friendship. Sounds odd, but is true.
But tolerance leads to friendship.

You know that, right?

Well, there were some very fun, interesting, thoughtful, sensitive people on the German forum that Carsten chased away.

I don't and never will believe that people ought to be restrained or censored from saying what they think.

And if a supervised Kindergarten is your playground, then have fun.

I know that, and I live with that.

But did you know that some of your "freedom friends" said that "tolerance is a crime if it permits the evil" ?
Who are my "freedom friends"?

Do clarify this... because you just lost me.

No. They're still there, believe me. they may be a bit bored about Peter, but Lit is too much fun for them to go away.

The missing moderator before Peter occured chased much more people away. Especially AH kind of people

It's one thing if you say your opinion, another one if you terrorize people with that because you can.

Too bad we both can't agree on that.

Kids will grow. You just need a little time.

Remember the old days when this thread was about Laurel's sphincter?

I miss those days.

i asked peter to be my friend, then he banned my cats.

:(

I don't see how that could be.

A moderator worse than Peter??

It's one thing if you say your opinion, another one if you terrorize people with that because you can.
How can you "terrorize" people with text?

Do you cry because someone types something harsh on a message board?

Too bad we both can't agree on that.

Kids will grow. You just need a little time.
Sounds to me like you need a little more time.

Indeed.

But feel free to come over here anytime you want to play with the grownups.

There's nothing more dangerous than a child who suddenly finds himself in charge of adults.

Some are, but some aren't.

I only know of one who really left. He was kind of sociopathic. I don't miss him.

But a lot of people came back that were left in years, when Peter took the action. And I miss a lot of people that left because of the subterraneal niveau of the board when there was no moderation.

I don't see how that could be.

A moderator worse than Peter??

Right. Before Weenie decided to become a non-moderator, he was a much more highhanded dictator, he displaced single Posts into one single Thread called "Bad Bank" that was closed for everybody. If you asked for explanation for thread closures he said "because I can".

Peter acts more structured, with more freedom for us, and he explains everything as good as he can. For a German, he's moderate.

How can you "terrorize" people with text?

No, nobody cries, but it's a fact that a board full of harsh thread titles turns off. And if 20-30 posts in a row have "Byron is gay" in the title, it really turns off. And we had phases like that, when German Lit was nothing but an alt war, no other topics.
