Arseholes. All of them. Where do they find so many? It must be part of the selection process, because no other country can compete on this.

Come to think of it, security in general seems to be rude in America. Which is weird, because everyone else seems pretty reasonable. All happy to help, ma'am! Maybe they put attitude altering chemicals in the uniforms. Or have a breeding center somewhere.

security jobs are considered beneath most people, so they don't get treated well by the general public which of course just makes those working in security treat the general public like shit creating a wonderful little feedback loop of hate.

I must have a friendly, non-terrorist demeanor, because I've never had any trouble at any airport.

1. I also wonder if they're instructed to act stand-offishly and intimidating.
When treated in that way, mules for drugs or bombs get much more nervous and more likely to give themselves away.

2. Add that to the former low level security guard who'd been previously treated like shit and suddenly finds herself in a position of power. (I and others felt that female TSA agents were the worst)

Their attitude is too pervasive to be just no.2

Well that makes sense. I guess.

For haters, sure.

you are talking the actual pencils you have to sharpen, right?

i refuse to use liquid shit, that stuff will blind ya

Liquid is a pain in the arse.
Those twist up sticks are great!

I agree with Dolf 100%. Plus the liquid has to dry and my prep time is already godawful.

Go with the twist-up sticks or I'll even use black eyeshadow that I use this special applicator for and do it that way, if my hands are shaking real bad and I know it's gonna be fucked up and just do it really, really thick.

I've got to say, the American airport experience puts me off going there. And a small amount of eavesdropping tells me that American travelers often feel the same way.

Do they have to pass an arrogance and rudeness test to get a job in airport security? And fail the common sense test? They're next level.

Which is odd, because, in general, you seem to excel at helpful politeness in service industries

On my last trip to Europe and back, the officials (both customs and security) were excellent at all airports in the US and abroad except of Heathrow, where 2/3 of them were condescending asses, along with all of the British Airways ground staff.

Here in Anchorage, the TSA folk always seem pretty cheery. Maybe it's just been since pot was legalized in the state?

They tend to have the attitude that "they are all that". When they aren't.

I also am the one who always gets pulled aside for the full search. I have had it done multiple times in one day.

During one search, they "lost" my car keys. On a 5 hour flight, with no keys to drive home after landing.

Screw them.

I thought it was funny. I think you'd have to start wearing camo :D

Oh I chuckled, I'm always laughing at racist shit though.

Nah....I actually wear all grey and black.

But I do wear grey summer ripstop cargo pants so I guess I'm between emo and cammo.

We used to go down to the States three or four times a year

Won't step foot in it while the Sexual Predator in Chief is in the white house

Not leaving the house is different than not having any trouble at the airport, loser.

That depends on the airport, although the TSA people seem to be universally arseholes. In my experience, and I've flown into quite a few US airports, JFK is by far the worst.

I never had any problem with assholish TSA staff. Grumpy maybe, but who wouldn't be in their shoes?

The whole immigration entry routine however is mental, from the weird "do you plan to commit terrorism" questions to the understaffing at the more heavily trafficked airports. Never scaled for volume. Last time i was at Newark, an old guy collapsed in the serpetine queue and got carried god knows where on a stretcher. Waiting time 95 minutes.

One of the advantages of flying to the US from Dublin is that all the TSA bollocks is done this side. Land in Newark, collect your bag, outside for a smoke.

You must give off a “finger my holes” vibe.

.

It's safe to assume then, that you being from Sweden don't usually fly in via LAX. 🤔
