I honestly thought marzipan was universal. It's the yellow stuff in wedding cakes and stuff between the sponge and the icing. It's almond flavoured... and I agree with janey... it's vile!

I hate battenburg cake... but it's named in honour of Queen Victoria's granddaughter marying Pince Louis of Battenburg (and I live on the old estate grounds of where Queen Victoria lived and died... Osborne House).

Sorry to the yanks.... but as a Brit, I am going to post Brit things from time to time.

Just consider it a challenge and educational please..... cos I learn stuff trying to do Yank ones to even it out.

But.... it WAS funny reading through this.
