Yesterday I cemented my status as Geeko de Tutti Geeki. :)

I was in the car with a couple friends heading back from dinner. We have large flocks of blackbirds that nest in the trees around a couple shopping centers right in the middle of town. They've been there just about as long as I can remember. They can fiull the sky when they take to wing, moving from one grove of trees to another and when they loiter about on the electrical and telephone lines which run over they highway they resemble an Alfred Hitchcock movie in the worst way.

Back to the story. We were heading in the general direction of the shopping center and the birds lit off from one grove of trees. My friend in the front seat look up and said "What the heck is that above the trees?". Without missing a beat I said "Crebain! From Dunland!" then ducked behind the seat.

Okay, it's only going to be funny to you geeks and especially to you Tolkien Geeks. But I'm very proud of myself. ;)

Geeks rule!

And no, I'm not just saying that because I'm a geek.

:D

how are you btw?

I'm well - in the full grip of Christmas Glee.

That and after this post, that much more in sheer infatuation with you. :)

I'm still waiting.

For my Christmas glee to happen. I took my lil man shopping tonight and who we didn't get a gift for just isn't going to get one. lol

The Holiday's should bring out the best in people, not the worse! As we walked through the mall this evening I looked at peoples faces. Most were not smiling or joyful, instead you could see irritation and annoyance. I don't think I would have wanted to see a mirror right then myself. :)

heh, because I'm a geek? I say... embrace your geekdom! ;-)

I have one more Search an dShop mission to the local WalMart on Sunday evening. I have a good strategy, which gets me in and out in the quickest possible time. Otherwise I don't let the shoppers bother me much. The hustle and bustle is unavoidable anywhere this time of year.

And yeah, your geekhood is just another reason I dig you greatly. :)

Care to share your strategy, oh wise shopper?

Btw I sent you a thank-you pm this morning, but the server had an uh-oh and I wasn't sure that it was actually sent or not.

It didn't make it to me, hon. :)

My strategy is pretty simple. First, I know how the store is laid out and what is where. So I make my list and I note where everythign is, at least generally. I re-write the list so I can go in the front door and make a fairly direct route through the store to get everything I need. That way I don't spend time backtracking. I don't browse and I don't go out of my way to get anything I don't have on my list. I go right into one line and stay there. They all move about the same pace anyhow.

I can't reduce the amount of time I stand in line, so I dont' let that worry me. Otherwise, I can get a decent number of items in a fairly short time, season-considering.

I use to work at Walmart and here is a little tip.

If there isn't something on the shelf and you really want/need it, ask an associate to go look. If they fuss tell them that you know that they keep their overstock back there. The request to speak to the department manager or the store manager is usually a sure fire way to get them to run to the back and check. It honestly only takes minutes to do.

I worked during the Christmas season 2 years ago, my night manager would hide during the midnight reports because the customers were so angry about the long wait. ( The entire store shuts down while they run the reports) So he'd leave me to deal with them...

I'm one of those odd girls (my oddness has already been established lol) who hates shopping. I despise it. I rarely browse, I know what I want and I go in to get it and get the heck out.

I'm really rambling here and I've just managed to totally hi-jack your thread. Tell me to hush! lmao

Since you didn't get the pm, you are officially thanked here. I appreciated your kindness yesterday and I just wanted to let you know again.

I know that tip. :) My Grandmother was a Door Greeter for almost five eyars, before she passed, and she used ot give me all the Wal Mart intelligence information. ;)

And you're very welcome. It's hardly kindness, though. It's just my honest assessment of the obvious with an undercurrent of really wanting to get into your pants. ;)

But, well... not only am I a geek, I'm a dork!

Oh yeah, another thing I'd been wanting to say. I miss your real av's!

My kind of girl. :)

Thanks. I may bring one of them back sometime, but I'm not sure when. Perhaps I'll do it once a couple choice board pricks and some hangers-on decide to find greener pastures. Whereas I don't have any problem with the way I look, it's distracting in a conversation to have the same insult used by three or four posters all the time. ;)

I have an amazing ability to tune people out that I don't care for or if someone says something that I find offensive.

But I do understand, I doubt I'd have a very good reaction if I started getting slammed. I could only hope that I was able to handle it with half as much class as you've exhibited.

If it happens again I'll just open up my hillbilly redneck can of whoop ass on 'em! ;)

Mostly I do the same, but sometimes you just can't get around them.

Hey...did I ever tell you that my Dad's side of the family is from WV?

Oh! Where abouts?

See this is just another example of all the fine things that comes from Wild Wonderful West Virginia. ;-)

Southwest mostly. I have kin strewn throughout SW WV and the neck of VA. I suppose it's generally called the Rich Valley area.

Ever visit?

I actually live in southern WV, 25 minutes outside of Virginia.

I have, bt not recently. My folks go down there quite often, though. Mostly where they go is a town called Saltville, VA which is very near Marion. My Dad spent most of his time in Caretta, west of Bluefield.

I know of Marion, but I've never heard of Saltville, same with Caretta... but I do know the Bluefield area. Funnily enough, I was just there tonight shopping.

Well, if you know Marion, then come north off the Interstate about ten minutes and you can't miss Saltville. Caretta's pretty much just a coal-mining town at the top of a mountain with the stores and such in another town at the bottom of it.

Actually, the closest big city to Caretta is Welch, AV, home of WELC radio, which I remember form my childhood trips to my Grandma's house as playing "Take Me HOme, Country Roads" approximately 90 times an hour. ;)
