Thanks for explaining. I thought I was having an out of body experience.![]()
Have you ever read the whole Bible? I guess this is the assumption, that you have done so if you believe in it literally.
I have, at least once through, and then I've tried a few more times and I end up stalling a lot because I can't get through the laws or the begats.
For a wise book, there's a lot of completely irrelevant information.

Yes I have. That you at least read it once is why I respect you so much. I can agree to disagree. I too have difficulty staying focused reading parts of it. I think that all of it is relevant but can agree that not all of it is interesting.![]()
How come god showed his arse to Moses but not his face? How come god's arse is less holy than his fizzer?
Fizzer? This gives me an image of God not showing his face because of rabies.
Looking the word up for slang is pretty funny.
Lot offering his daughters to the mob out of fear.
God saved THIS guy?
Again, why aren't the daughters saved and Lot punished? Why is his wife turned to salt for a lack of faith? Lot gets the voice of God and the women are pretty much left to flounder and suffer for the lack of direct intervention. Again. Or first. Not sure if Jephthah or Lot happens first.
Women get abandoned and blamed a lot and offered as scapegoats...a lot.

It's probably a corruption of visage, from the frog.
Iggy in a second if you start using rhyming slang. God didn't create that shit.
I like some of the "evolved" rhyming slang. Listerine, for instance, means anti-American because it's anti-septic.
I think that again you are blaming God for the consequences of the actions of Lot.
Taken in context of today. If a man killed several people and was in prison on death row. God would still want to save him.
Sure.
But they also get to touch breasts anytime they want!
Not to mention carrying a purse in public without facing additional scrutiny.

Yes, I am blaming God. He saves a righteous man in direct intervention. But the righteous man's actions have to do with him being rightous in the sense of making the proper obeisance and sacrifice to God. Roles denied to women.
Jesus brings about the idea that we need to be righteous not only toward God, but toward each other. Make the sacrifices and show the honor to God, but also to each other.
That's where in my opinion Jesus rises to being wise, whereas the God that has come before has only been about ceremony and glory attributed to Him.
God now after Jesus is considered benevolent and wounded by the actions of humans. God before Jesus is all about rituals being followed.
Historically and in context, it makes sense. The Old Testament God is about humans being vengeful, law bound, tribal and petty. Jesus brings about the idea that we are all one tribe, so to speak, seen as equal creations. I honor Jesus over God. Even Jesus is vengeful and doesn't express that God wants to save everyone. Many are cursed:
34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.
So I winnow out the idea that being righteous has to do with caring for other humans as if they were divine. And I leave the rest.
Do you want an apple? They're tasty and I've got a tree full of them. Delicious tasty treats, high fiber, energy, sugars, no original evil or anything to worry about.
It'll make you smart!
No smart for you. And now you get cursed with pain in childbirth. I hope you're happy now, young lady.

I'm guessing God didn't invent the epidural then either?
Jesus was not talking specifically about himself. When I was hungry you gave me nothng to eat, drink, visits etc. That is why they said Lord when did we see you naked and not cloth you, thirsty and not feed you etc.? They would not do that to Jesus. He is asking them to realize that whatever they do to the least of the people on earth, Any people he will consider it like they had done it to him. Male or female. We are suppose to care for each other. That is what he wanted them to realize.
The old testement is most importantly the prophecy that Jesus would be coming. The new testement is the fulfillment of that prophecy and it is historicaly accurate. The debate stems from those who choose not to believe the historical accounts that Jesus rose again from the grave. Some people want to leave him in the ground. Some people believe those who saw his ressurrection and started the ministry of telling about it.![]()
