Create a second account?

I have no doubt that some people use alt accounts that way, but would it really make much of a difference?
The stories I post in I/T gets hundreds of votes each. I'm way too lazy to create the number of accounts it would take to skew my rating by more than a point or two.

In Incest it probably wouldn't make much difference. In some of the other less popular categories a dozen or so alts could increase the rating substantially.

Gotcha. Chapter 2 of my EC story does seem to be low on votes.

Note to self: Create a dozen or so alts.

I'm sure there is a line to be drawn between what constitutes as having an Alt profile ego and multiple personality disorder...... But, as an artist, I'm not drawing the line when I use flesh and makeup for my canvas and penđź‘ đź‘ đź‘ Kant

Now you're getting into GB territory. There are only twenty people in the GB but a hundred people post.

That is putting way too much effort into making it look like a dozen people agree with you.

Haha...that cracked me up. I was thinking that's to much effort for one person to manipulate a shity story and make it seem like it's all the rave :)

Would be nice if Literotica had a feature to create aliases so you could have multiple names under one account. It would make it easier to keep track of your different stories and favorites from other accounts.

Who let Fag-Ash_Lil out?

Come on, sweet Oggie. Everyone knows there are only three personalities on the entire site. You, me and that other guy who reminds me of a cross between Klinger on MASH and Hannibal from Silence of the Lambs. (The guy seriously needs to be sedated, but then what do I know?) :D
Everlux, I have considered recently doing the split accounts for the purpose of separating categories, but I havent done that yet and not sure I ever will. I have too much trouble keeping up with one account as it is. But, I sure did want to say thanks for raising the subject and posting the solution here.
As for using dozens of accounts to manipulate votes? (sigh...) I'm one of a few who have plenty of time and opportunity to do that I suppose, but jeez! Really?
When I look at some others who turn out several works per week, I wonder WHEN the heck they would have time to do such a thing! And, I'm just too lazy to bother boosting my own numbers or bombing anyone else's.
So, I spend my time looking for just the right word to use in a phrase, or researching potential characters...Wiki is my friend. And by now, Google must be like, "Oh, here we go again! What's she looking up now?!!" (somehow I think googling a recipe for german chocolate cake followed closely by 'what's snowballing?' must keep someone perpetually scratching their head...);)

You have to be absolutely certain that you're splitting up your work into multiple pen names for a reason you're going to be happy with over the long haul. It is going to affect your overall readership to some degree.

Now that high numbers of followers display in the new control panel, I've been able to cross-reference my follower lists. If all my unique followers were under one pen name, I'd be in the top 50 most favorited authors, rather than having only one of the three in the low 200s.

I started my other two pen names for reasons that make sense to me, so it doesn't bother me, but it's something to consider. You're rolling multiple snowballs, and none of them are going to be as big or grow as quickly as they would if you concentrated on one.

You see? I knew there was a reason I havent done it yet! I thought for a minute that having another pen name would make sense to me, too, but then again, I might wake up and forget who I am today. Meh...I have enough trouble just being me on a good day. When in doubt...do nothing! (jeez, must be the season for snowballs.) But, I definitely do agree with the premise of concentrating on one. :D Thanks for the input DC. I think I'll stick to that advice at least for now.

No kidding. That'd be a lot of work for no noticeable difference to your rating except on storiez with very few votes

A couple of my "specific genre" story accounts do have wildly separate ratings (higher) than my main, mostly GM, account does.

Hey, look at this old thread! :D

My original question was more about whether or not it's possible to move stories from an old account to a new one, which, yep, it is.

But I will say, I'm still very happy with my decision to split them up, since it allowed me more freedom. I created a twitter account for EverLux, and I link to my stories on NaNo. If I still had I/T stories on here, that would make in-person write-ins a little awkward.

It is, of course, a personal preference thing. It's just nice to know it's an option.
