I have a 45 minute to an hour drive home every evening.

There are days when I want to get home right away, but for the most part...I like the alone time. I have an eclectic selection of CD's to match my mood or traffic situation and the drive gives me a chance to unwind.

And there are times when I shut the stereo off and think.

How do you view your commute?

I have a short commute as well. 10-15 minutes max. Normally I am thinking about what I need to do when I get home. How much alone time I am going to have. The past week I have been so preoccupied I ran stright through a red light and almost did it twice today. I don't know what is wrong with me! I catch myself staring at the light but not thinking about it...

I like commuting with myself. I don't have to make small talk, I can turn my radio up as loud as I want, I can take my time and I can put my windows down as far as I like.

Now if everyone else would get off the road, the drive would be absolutely perfect.

I too only have a short commute, but I guess I view it differently going either to work and thinking about things that have to be done or coming home and cranking the radio and singing as loud as I can (yes I know I get strange looks) but I find that it relaxes me and I'm not a complete witch when I walk in the door.

Well, I only have like five miles to drive from my apartment to work. If I go straight home, I might get to hear a complete song on the radio taking about 5 to 8 minutes depending on the traffic and if they aren't working on the hwy.

If I stop along the way, who knows how long it will take.:D

Just long enough to listen to "tupelo Honey"...

I live 35 miles from where I work, so the commute is almost an hour, one way. I only started working there this week so haven't got the route exactly down pat. There are several ways to go and some I still have to try. But I like commuting by myself...as others have said, the radio is all mine, the A/C is all mine. If I have errands or whatever, it doesn't put anyone else out. The only reason I might be in a hurry to get home would be to let my dog out.

You are so used to the trip that your subconcious takes you home when your mind wanders...like when you blink and wonder how you got to that certain point along the way....

I do that sometimes with the light...

I really let loose in the car...sing to the top of my lungs...it's great!

I do this!!:D Do you find people looking at you wondering and what you are saying to them? This one guy actually rolled down his window and said, "what did you say?" Another guy thought I was cussing him and gave me the finger!

Those trips are fun!

I think it's hilarious when they roll down their windows and ask me what I said. One guy the other day thought I needed directions and automatically said, "where do you need to get to?" I just pulled away. But by and far these are my favorite trips!

you know what's funny...i seldom use the AC...I like the wind on my face...it feels free!

I have an 11 mile drive that takes me 30 to 45 minutes in stop and go traffic. (Dallas traffic SUCKS) It sounds corny, but there are many days that I pray on the way to work. When I do I seem to have a calmer day. I work in an office full of hormonal women, with a high stress level. Some days I just pray I will not want to kill anyone that day:)
lol

See...they know I'm in concert...I move and pretend to have a mic...

someone gave you the finger?...that bastard!

Depends on the traffic and how slow the idiots are in front of me.
I have a pretty much straigh shot for fifteen minutes.

Time to get my mindset ready for the day, or to try and forget it.

Made the trip so many times, sometimes it is like driving on autopilot. Before I know it or remember the drive, I am there.

That's fine for the spring, but summer in Texas demands an A/C.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. This time of year, before school lets out, and our vacationers come in, we have been invaded by the older retired couples that live up here during the summer. They drive so slow. And of course there is always traffic coming the other way and I can't pass. I just wish they would at least do the freaking speed limit!
