Oh don't tell me that Andy. I thought that being a biochem major I gave up enough of my life. Three more years of it, that just sucks but oh well, I am determined.

Nico had to explain it to me, it's been awhile since I've taken a biology class. Luckily it was a favorite subject of mine back when I took it, so when he explained it, everything started coming back to me.

By the way, very sweet Nico

GEG,
You are so nice and so cute. So did you ever study the birth of a unique cell (do you want to).

Andy,
Sounds like you are hooked up with a sweet firm, I should definitely try to do that myself. Since I graduate in May but did not apply to law school for next year do you think it would be a good idea to try to intern next year, assuming I can afford to, just to get my foot in the door with a firm? Doesn't Guinness get pumped using N2?

I'm new too, but as you can see, people are friendly in these parts!

SC, I can't say as I blame you for being preoccupied. So I'll just leave a :rose: for you and and wish you the best on your interview. BTW, what sort of job are you interviewing for?

The Assistant Coordinator of the organization

Thanks for the welcome guys...I say we'd got a pretty combination going a lawyer, an architect, and an angelic goddess (sorry SCBT don't know what you're studying). We'd pretty much got everything covered...

Anyway, thanks again for the welcome. I generally keep to myself and just enjoy the stories and conversations, but like I said there can only so much research someone can take. I'll keep popping in and out from time to time.

I'm a psych major.. :D

hey SC.. do you go to Clemson?

nope...but I bleed orange and was born a tiger and will die a tiger..lol....even if I have to go to that chicken school to get my masters degree

to comment on this science stuff....

MAKE IT STOP@!!!!!!

I don't get science stuff which is kinda odd cause I used to love it up till high school....hmmm...now I try to avoid it at all cost..

How did the Interview go?

Hope it went well...

I also hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll be stuck in studio working my tail off on my final project, which means I'll be online and checking on on Lit regularly! :D So if you have nothing else to do, (like that's a problem around here) pop on and say hi.

BTW, SC, I agree with you on the science stuff, but before they stop would anyone like to post the explanation for us non Bio folks?

Well, back to studio... enjoy!

Yes I think that Spring has either returned or at the very least the groundhog did not see his shadow so that it is in sight. The weather is warming up, just like passions do after being stifled by the cold of winter. The trees are budding, like the dreams shared between people late at night. The grass is green, just like the ever so beautiful eyes of a certain poster on this thread.

Nerdiness....yes I am a nerd, but I am also much more. I'm an athlete, in a fraternity, can drink lilke a fish when i want to, a potter, an artist, a decent guitarist, and many other things. To limit the description of onesself to merely one aspect is to limit your being. There are many many aspects to a person and their personality. Why limit yourself to just one and make it a limiting factor. I love being a nerd b/c it means that when some of my friends are studying their ass off, I can get up early and just study for an hour or two and do as well or better on the same exam. There are two sides to every coin why look at the downside? That an having caught the eye (among other things) of GEG is never a downside ;)

And these green eyes like to watch you in action on the track and other places.;)

Ok you asked for an explanation of the biology. Hmm here it is in a nutshell. It deals with protein synthesis, or how proteins are made in a cell. THe way it goes is DNA to RNA to protein. The DNA is the recipe, the RNA copies the recipe and the protein is then made from it. That is the nutshell, here is the better explaination. DNA is made up of a repeating subunits called bases. These bases are then transcribed into RNA . The RNA can then go out of the nucleus of the cell (where the DNA is at) and into the ribosomes of the cell (where proteins are made). The ribosome reads the bases in the RNA in 3 base units called codons. Each codon (3 base unit) stands for a specific amino acid. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, get enough of them together and you have a protein. The letters that are in nick1's signature stand for the bases, he just broke them into the codons for ease of figuring out what he meant. Each of the "words" he put down stands for an amino acid, if you take the first letter of those amino acids and put them in context it reads a message. He also was intelligent enough to put in the stop codons to that we would know what the different words were. If you want to translate it here is a website that has the map to figure out what codon stands for what amino acid. http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/C/Codons.html

And here i thought that they did not just watch but they bored straight into me until nothing was left unseen, that nothing about me or my past present or future was not seen and understood that they looked as if looking through my own eyes, and at that which was shared by only two people.

Wow

I feel like I'm at school on this College thread... Reading that discription of Biology made me feel like I was in AP Bio all over again (shakes nervously).... My mom's a Biologist, its very interesting and I do enjoy science but I'm sticken to playing with peoples money

Hope everyone has had a nice evening... Mine sucked, my beloved Terps lost in the NCAA :( .... Long Live the Terps!

hey, does anyone here use Mac OS X?
