Christmas movies!

Many are good, but my three tops are "A Christmas Carol" (1951 Alistair Sim, and when I was a kid, the uncovering of "want" and "ignorance" by the Spirit of Christmas Present was scary)

This is my favorite version of Christmas Carol and I absolutely agree with you Tio, that scene still frightens me...they used to show this one every year but now you can hardly find it on any more.

It's a Wonderful Life is an absolute must see for me on Christmas Eve before we go to bed and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation while we are decorating the tree. Rudolph, The Grinch, and Charlie Brown of course..
:)

I really like National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, and the Alistair Sim Christmas Carol.

of course a new favorite is Mrs. Miracle; of course I am prejiduced, it is in the background of my story 'On The Fifth Day of Christmas' ;)

We're going through Harry Potter for a holiday-ish mood this year.

That way I get to avoid actual Xmas movies, of which, truth be told, I don't like any all that much, plus, as it's the first time I'm watching the entire series, I get to rave about it to complete annoyance and pitying looks of everyone who pestered me to watch/read HP when you 'had to'.

The hotness that is Rickman as Snape isn't hurting any, either. :cathappy:

I'm woefully behind on the HP series. I think the last movie I saw was the 4th one.

You were still ahead of me! I was so not gripped with the first book back when it came out that I could never be persuaded to read further and only saw two movies.

They are great fun, though, so we're really having a wonderful treat now. I'll be reading the books too after all, just to forestall the impending withdrawal crisis.

I haven't read any of the books. I might, someday. And yes, the movies are great fun....at least the ones I saw.

Ew, Hairy Putter, ew.

Everyone should watch Bad Santa at least one time. It's definately worth it, and far > HP.

I know it's campy, but I'd have to go with, It's a Wonderful Life. I lost my dad a few years back, and while he was never a wealthy man, he truly was the richest man in town.

I love most versions of, A Christmas Carol, but have a soft spot in my heart for, An American Christmas Carol. Puts a slightly more modern twist on the tale, and we learned Arthur Fonzarelli could say something more than, "Ayyyy." Just found the entire movie on Youtube - Part one:

Bad Santa, Love Actually, The Family Stone (but only when Rachel McAdams breaks out in tears a the end)...sorry, spoiler alert!

Speaking of the Muppets, just remembered another one from my youth. Anyone recall, Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas? Touching story as you might expect, but the, 'Riverbottom Nightmare Band' stole the show! Muppets do heavy metal? Particularly during the holidays!
