Christmas Countdown

You know it is Christmastime when a radiostation switches over to 24/7 Christmas music...
We don't have those here. Most stores are starting to hold off on the Christmas music until Dec. 1. I have to play my own Christmas music as the digital tv music stations don't start until Dec 1.

Do you have Christmas stockings?

It is strange that Home Alone never became the Christmas classic A Christmas Story did especially considering it was commercially more successful...

The same...the 24 hours of A Christmas Story is my Christmas tradition :D
What station runs that? This year we are staying home so I want to watch some of WPIX's fire log on Christmas Day since I think they are the station that started that tradition.

We watch Home Alone 2 more at Christmas then the first one. I think it is funnier in some parts but also the Brenda Fricker character is so awesome. When she throws the bucket of bird seed on the Wet Bandits err Sticky Bandits and the pidgeons attack always gets us laughing hysterically but it's her pathos as a very lonely women who has kept a distance from people for manyyears that gets my heart strings going. Of course Tim Curry is the icing on top.

It is strange as A Christmas Story was not a blockbuster hit on it first theatrical run. I remember people walking out at the showing I went to. I think I had already seen some of Jean Shepherd's stories on PBS so I sort of knew what to expect and I remember the days when stores in all cities had amazing store windows and great real toylands with rides and great Santa's and I think the pictures were either free or very reasonably priced.

I prefer the original...with the air rifle and the spider...and John Candy playing the clarinet in the UHaul...Fuller wetting the bed...perfection. :)

Yes. Mine is Daffy Ducks and hubby's is Bugs Bunny. Daughter has like a four foot tall knitted Christmas stocking. I need to get my arse in gear and get some stocking stuffers.

I still use the Christmas Stocking a woman from my church made me when I was a baby...:)

I have read stories about how the studio didn't know how to market it...not enough theaters...not positioning its opening better.

I hope no body is buying the A Christmas Story 2 that was released in the Fall straight to dvd. I looked it up after seeing it for sale at Wal*Mart and it sounds awful. I wish PBS would release it's Jean Shepherd tv shows and telemovies it made based on some of his stories.

I saw the promos for it and I thought it was a cruel joke

I hope no one buys it thinking it will be good. I wouldn't mind getting some of the A Christnas Story decorations. There are mini leg lamps and Ralphie dressed in the bunny costume.
