"Captain Marvel" Results Thread: the GB deplorable predictions vs. box office!

The movie is hugely entertaining. I look forward to seeing how the Marvel teams uses the captain in the forthcoming Avengers movie. Once she comes fully into her powers, she is far and away the most powerful character in the MCU. She could eat Iron Man for lunch and have Thor for dessert, with a side of Dr. Strange. So, if you don't think that Captain Marvel was good

I never said that Captain Marvel would bomb, I just said that it might not have legs. It was shown on over 4,000 screens, of course it would make money. The problem is that the SJWs here think that if you don't like the movie, that makes you an "incel deplorable" which honestly, is fucking stupid. I thought Wonder Woman was awesome. Sigourney Weaver was awesome as Ripley in Alien and Aliens. Linda Hamilton was awesome in the Terminator movies, etc & etc.

I saw Captain Marvel (thank god for free). It was a bad movie. It had a ton of plot holes (like why did the Kree keep their Skrull genocide a secret from Carol for example) along with retconning parts of the Marvel movie universe. Her banter with Fury was painfully stilted and had no natural flow which might have been from the script or just bad acting. The vast majority of the fights were pretty bland and not as dynamic as a lot of other Marvel brawls. The blunt music choices that punch you in the face with their "wokeness" (insert No Doubt quip here). Brie Larson was horribly miscast (Yvonne Strahovski would have been a better fit). SJW sheep are raving about the cat that did absolutely nothing for the vast majority of the movie. Even worse, Nick Fury, super spy, was so enamored with that dumb cat throughout the movie that I thought he might try fucking it. And then to make it EVEN WORSE, In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Nick Fury told Cap with grim intensity, "The last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye". And that someone was...a fucking cat.

You idiots deserve Captain Marvel...you're both mediocre.

He can't stand that it's a success. It's a highly entertaining superheroine popcorn flick inside an ongoing franchise that didn't have to center his demographic or cater to the male gaze in order to be a success — and he and the rest of the dry fanboy pills like him — can't fucking stand it.

I went and saw it Monday. It's ok. Far from the best of the MCU but way better than Dark World or Iron Man II. Formulaic and some shit is simply not explained but it's fun and Brie is hot and the cat is cool of course. Sam Jackson is Sam Jackson. Either you like the character he plays in every movie he's ever been in or you don't.

ETA: I saw it around noon on a Monday in an area that does not have a large population and the theater was maybe a little less than quarter full. I think that says a lot about it's legs. People like it and it'll continue making money for a few weeks yet. It won't be number one cuz Us and Dumbo but it'll hang out on the leaderboard for a while.

Rory's right. Those power grids apply to the comics & universe 616. The MCU is a different universe and obviously not everything is the same. Feige has already said Captain Marvel is the most powerful superhero in the MCU.

you know the issue isn't whether or not the movie is good. that is irrelevant. what is relevant is the fact that a bunch of bitter white guys with inferiority complexes tried to tank it before it even came out to teach brie larson a lesson. they failed. this is a good thing.
