"Captain Marvel" Results Thread: the GB deplorable predictions vs. box office!

So Brie Larson was sucking my cock the other day and I asked her "did you think Capt. Marvel might bomb?" and then she started to answer but I smacked her upside the head and said "NEVER take my cock of your mouth until I tell you to you filthy whore!" and then she finished and afterwards said she knew all along it'd be a hit.

Huh.

Rory as Brie Larson in metaphor.

Well done, sir!

Oh, look!

Rob thinks that others should be as repressed as he is and hang their heads in shame about things they posted openly in a public forum.

Quite a testament to how deeply wounded he gets at losing face that he would sift through over thirty-five thousand posts to go back seven years for his flame-out of a gotcha moment.

First female superhero movie to gross over $1 billion.

lets see how well that whole trashing your fan base marketing strategy works out

HUGE red flag to any other movie producers and screenwriters to not do this kind of project again

We'll see on the opening week how well it goes but the projections are not looking very good

Just based on the COMMERCIALS for it, its a fucking joke

It will probably flop.

It's shaping up as a really tight competition this year for the BoofDownSouth Memorial "Nostradumbass" Cup.

Take heart, chum.

You are still in the lead. You even got your own vanity thread about it. Your taking it to Meta-Nostradumbass was a whole new level that I don't think the competition is going to be able to match.

Epic:

The D's will only vote "present" while the R's will vote against it.

Quoting for amusement value later on, and also to prove once more that Timmeh is a nostradumbass.

How does one quantify that? Nostradumbass squared?

'Captain Marvel' Tops 'Spider-Man 2' As 'Us' And 'Dumbo' Both Top $200 Million Global (Box Office)

Walt Disney’s Dumbo earned another $18.224 million in its second weekend, dropping a harsh 60% and giving the Tim Burton fantasy a $76.2 million ten-day cume. It’s legging like Alice Through the Looking Glass, relatively speaking, so we could see a $115 million finish for the flying elephant yarn. That’s disappointing on its face, but it would be less of an issue if the movie didn’t cost $170 million. It earned another $39.5 million overseas to bring its global cume to $213.8 million. But that may not be enough to save it, as (spitball math alert) we’re probably looking at a $320 million-to-$330 million global gross for the live-action fairy tale. The Mouse House really needs Disneynature Presents Penguins Aladdin to pull its weight over Memorial Day, since they just can’t rely on toons and MCU flicks.

...

Captain Marvel earned another $12.682 million (-39%) in its fifth weekend, an excellent hold considering Shazam’s mighty opening weekend. The $150 million-budgeted Brie Larson flick, which already passed The Dark Knight ($1.004 billion in 2008) worldwide and Black Panther ($645 million in 2018) overseas, has now displaced Deadpool ($363 million in 2016, sans 3-D) domestically. That makes it the fourth-biggest solo non-sequel superhero film (sans inflation) behind Spider-Man ($402 million in 2002), Wonder Woman ($412.5 million in 2017) and Black Panther ($700 million last year). The film has earned $374.1 million domestic (past Spider-Man 2‘s $373 million gross from 2004) and $1.034 billion worldwide (past Jurassic Park and The Phantom Menace), It’ll pass Spider-Man domestically but maybe not the likes of Iron Man 3 ($409 million in 2013), Captain America: Civil War ($408 million in 2016) and Wonder Woman ($412.5 million in 2017), although it’ll end up just over/under $1.1 billion worldwide.

I'm sticking with my initial prediction that Captain Marvel will top off at around $400 million, though it might lose some business at the tail end of its run as attention turns to the Avengers.

Just hit $400 million this weekend. All things considered, It's held up well over the past few weeks. Probably a good thing as Endgame is going to crush everything over the next few weeks.

'Captain Marvel' And 'Shazam' Both Just Hit Big Box Office Milestones

https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottm...films-mcu-box-office-wonder-woman-batman/amp/

We are just days away from Avengers: Endgame, and it seems that excitement over the MCU season finale is bleeding over into the other big superhero movies. Okay, not to Hellboy (-59% for a $3.88 million second weekend and $19.676 million ten-day cume), but I digress. Both Captain Marvel (+9%) and Shazam! (-29%) had ridiculously good holds this weekend, and both hit box office milestones. Captain Marvel is now past $400 million domestic while Shazam! hit $300 million global.

Captain Marvel is at $1.09 billion globally. Shazam is a really good movie.

:)

Captain Marvel going up in weekend box office in its seventh week is extremely unusual. Probably a combo of 1) people wanting to make sure they saw it prior to Endgame and 2) a lot of kids having Good Friday off from school.

Marvel knows how to play ball. :D

Tempted to peep it again before Friday's Endgame watch just for the chronological MCU grind-up. It was fun. Haven't seen Shazam yet, but did hear it's a hoot, so that might be a watch purdy soon.

I thought about seeing it again this past weekend, but had too much to do. It's going to be interesting how Captain Marvel fits into Endgame. Some how the snap is going to be at least partially undone with a Guardians 3, Spiderman 3, and Dr. Strange 2 in the works. Supposedly she can time travel, but I think the Ant Man cliffhanger is the key to all of that.

My biggest curiosity is if the Russos will go as far back as undoing Loki's death. Gamora seems a must happen to me.

All other things aside, this film had the best soundtrack of the Marvel pictures.

Between the 90s tunes and the standout orchestral music near the end of the film, it wins.

Endgame soundtrack was pretty good.
