"Captain Marvel" Results Thread: the GB deplorable predictions vs. box office!

I didn't say you were upset. Why are you so sensitive? :rose:

Calling me thin skinned is a direct implication that I was upset by what you said.

So is your baseless assertion that I'm "so sensitive".

You're bad at the whole English bit aren't you??? :D

"Ohh you're a socialist! Oh you're not American!

Well....socialism is pretty anti-American.

Do you have any argument or evidence to the contrary??

Or are you just going to do some more name calling??

Oh you're calling me names....Mom! He hit me back!"

Pussy.

Mom?? LOL .....some super revealing fantasy and projection there Rob. ;)

I think I've upset rob by asking him to explain why everyone doesn't just go get HC at the VA since it's "free".

Look at all teh deflection and pathetic attempts to get Rob to "play defense".
Such sensitivity.....Que does this all the time but I give him a break because he's only 5'6". You, on the other hand, don't have any excuse.

Looks like I'm living in your head rent-free....um, excuse me "rent-service-based" or whatever your wordplay is today.

I didn't mean to upset you so. Are you gonna cry?

I don't need an excuse....your fantasies wont ever make what I posted deflection or an attempt to get you to play defense.

No....you're not, using that in the middle of a conversation is not how that saying works. :D

When you're not involved and I bring you up out of nowhere? Then you get to say you're living in my head rent free.

Get it now??

Sorry you have such a hard time with English. :D

Dude, if you werent so butthurt why do you keep on with this debunked rascism sexism shpiel...unless you really think Brie Larson is oppressing white men by wanting diversity in reporting

I saw this last night and it was so good!! Glad I went to the theater.

I hope you aren't a loyal American conservative cuz those deplorable liberals led by Rory and crew absolutely hate that almost as much as they hate Stronghorse Teflon POTUS Trump.

You know, almost like they are taking away EVERY single right EVERY single US citizen has ever fought for.

Just got back. I was not happy with the first 15 minutes then things got poppin' and it was awesome.

Disney's 'Dumbo' Flies to #1 While 'Captain Marvel' Nears $1 Billion Worldwide

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4499

Disney's Dumbo was unable to reach studio or industry expectations, but still managed a #1 finish, making for the third different #1 film at the domestic weekend box office in as many weeks. Meanwhile holdovers such as Us and Captain Marvel continued their strong performances and Pure Flix's release of the anti-abortion drama Unplanned managed to out-perform expectations and find itself a spot in the top five.

...

Disney's Captain Marvel lands in third, dipping -40% as it begins its fourth weekend in release with an estimated $20.5 million three-day. This pushes the film's domestic gross over $353 million as it currently ranks as the eighth largest domestic release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Internationally, Captain Marvel added another $26.4 million from 54 markets, pushing the overseas total to $636.8 million and the global tally over $990 million. The film will soon top $1 billion at the global box office, becoming the seventh film in the MCU to reach that mark and the 38th film all-time.

the new one is just about an hour longer than the cartoon. kinda makes you wonder how bloated that fucker must be.

I'm sticking with my initial prediction that Captain Marvel will top off at around $400 million, though it might lose some business at the tail end of its run as attention turns to the Avengers.

I think we'll see a small spike right before Endgame just so peeps can catch up even though it's not chronologically correct.

Wonder if cineplexes are going to do back-to-back-to-back MCU flick marathons again?

At this point, all of the films, either in chrono order or release order, would likely last you a week. :D

Could only make it through the first 20 minutes.

Can definitely see why 13-year olds everywhere are raving about it, though.

Captain Marvel Passes $1 Billion At Worldwide Box Office

https://screenrant.com/captain-marvel-box-office-worldwide-1-billion/

Captain Marvel has become the latest film to gross $1 billion at the worldwide box office. When the movie was gearing up for its release in early March, tracking indicated it would have a very healthy global debut of around $350 million. However, due to a variety of factors that included poor competition and positive word-of-mouth, Captain Marvel shattered its commercial expectations and posted the sixth-highest global opening of all-time with a whopping $455 million.

Since then, Captain Marvel has soared up the charts, surpassing the final totals of several noteworthy superhero films in relatively no time at all. Considering the amount of money it brought in out of the gate, it was all but a guarantee it would pass the $1 billion mark at some point in its run. Now, it's accomplished that feat.

According to The Wrap, Captain Marvel is up to $1 billion worldwide, making it the 38th film in history to gross that much. It's also the seventh $1 billion hit in the MCU, and only the third solo film in the franchise to pull this off (Black Panther and Iron Man 3 are the others). Most would agree that Captain America: Civil War, while part of Cap's standalone series, is a crossover event akin to the Avengers movies.

...

At this point, nobody should be surprised that a Marvel movie was a monumental success at the box office. Over the past several years, they've made hit films out of everything from their household names (Spider-Man: Homecoming) to the most obscure comic book properties (Guardians of the Galaxy). Even Phase 1 was built on characters who were, at the time, considered to be second-tier. With $18 billion under their belt (and counting), Marvel is essentially invincible these days and they're obviously not showing any signs of slowing down. Successfully launching new characters like Black Panther and Captain Marvel should give the studio more confidence to reach even further into their vault and make something like The Eternals.
