It clamps on the laptop, or onto a tripod. The cam also swivels and tilts. Those are the reasons I bought it and do not use the built-in cam on my laptop.

I didn't know what happened.. and I was actually rather concerned especially when it seemed to take forever for her to let me know she was ok. I can't remember for sure, but I imagine we finished up...and it was totally worth her falling. I thought it was an instant classic!!

We use Skype to connect. It displays whatever the camera control passes to it. Actually, I do not know what she uses to zoom.

To be honest, at that point in our session, I was thinking very little about the technology that was making it all possible.

With 2 people have I done this. One was the worst mistake of my life and if I could undo it I would. It was entirely about sex and when I finally ended it I felt like a whore. The 'gentleman' in question didn't help any by being an ass about it and chasing me by every means he could for almost 2 months. That I will never ever do again.

The other is a dear friend and yes, we primarily just talk--spend time together being able to SEE one another which adds a nice dimension to a conversion that is usually only words on a screen. It did once become more than that but that has never been the focus or the intent. The thing I look forward to seeing above all is his smile.

(For all you folks talking about zoom--if you have one of the little USB cams that plugs into the laptop on a cord you don't need zoom. You just move the thing around to where you want it--bring it close, raise it up, shift it around, you name it. Especially if you add an extension to the cable. It will even go discreetly under a skirt if you happen to be at work--just sayin'. Now refer to paragraph one above before you get all excited and PM me!)

Any recommendations concerning how to avoid this horrible experience? How did you "fall into" that situation? Did you not know him well before hand? What are the lessons learned?

I didn't "fall into" anything. That makes it sound like I wasn't at fault and I was. I made a stupid decision that bit me on the ass.
I thought that we could have a purely sexual exchange. Scratch each other's itch so to speak. There was almost nothing personal, very little conversation. Unfortunately he didn't see it that way. When I realized that and backed off the repercussions were shear hell.
When I realized what I'd been doing, consciously and intentionally doing, I was so ashamed of myself that I backed away from any online involvement for ages.
Even now if I find myself being tempted to that sort of behavior I'll be slamming the door on all of it. I won't let myself go there again.

You want to avoid this kind of thing?
-Make sure everyone is clear from the get go what the situation is. Even if you think they know, make sure. Assume nothing. That should keep you out of the misunderstandings and hurt feelings.

-Think, a lot, about how you're going to feel after you've had what amounts to a virtual one night stand with a perfect stranger. After you realize that anything that goes out on cam can be recorded and used any way they like later on.

-Be assured that the other person is out for themselves, not for you. Just like you are if you're honest about it.

-Never forget that, particularly online there are some folks with reality/fantasy issues.
