Busybody defends himself from my allegation that he is...

I can agree as long as we never have an army big enough to take over the country.

I agree with you philosophically, and I think that the founders were probably concerned about the power of standing armies as a threat to the populace. On the other hand, the idea of any army, including our own, ever trying to occupy the US has always struck me as impossible, even absurd.

As a soldier, I can't even imagine the strategic and tactical obstacles to such a project. Think about even a relatively small state like Maine. There's no way you could ever do it.

Besides, you don't need much more than a 30-06 to defend your village. I can see BB's point about armor-piercing bullets and stuff.

if with a stroke of a pen, the Congress and the President could end the number one killer of a race, should they?

I am not familiar with the latest body armor but most high power hunting rounds will puncture standard body armor.

I don't believe that America can be defeated by an army either, as long as our citizens want it that way. I used to be a grunt and know the logistics would be impossible and even a small casualty ratio would be unstainable against the arithmetic of 35,000 cities and towns. We should never take anything for granted however.

Fair enough.

Cap'n: More like a tesseract into a pizza box.

Fagin: Good question, but I bet he asks for specifics.

not hypothetical.... and possibly doable.

abortions kill more would-be afro-americans than any one cause kills born afro-american. abortion could be considered the number one killer of afro-americans and outlawing it (and a subsequent change of supreme court rulings) would elimate the number one killer of a race.

should they?
