Buffy: Countdown to the Apocalypse

First--Dawn's gotten hot.

Second--Anya needs to pick a hair color.

Third--I think it very telling that when Spike was hugging the cross, he barely cooked. Something's up. Prior to getting his soul back, he really though himself the Big Bad. William never did. He's almost fully across the line here, and that may not be a good thing. He only vamped out at the Bronze because he didn't know WHAT to do. He was backed into a corner. But it was all a show. I think he didn't burn because he's so regressed, ro progressed back to pre-vamp life. Unlike Angel. Angel as Liam had reason to fear the cross, he was a drunk and a vagabond. William on the other hand.....

I think Spike always wished he had never been turned. That he could have stayed William and lived the life he was meant to. It's always been his strongest personality. All though I like the Big Bad part of him (it is the funniest) it would be nice to see more of the romantic William side.

I rather think this IS the life he was meant to lead. He's important for the here and now. Had he lived and died a natural death, he doubtless would have made no impact. Whatever's to come, he'll play a role in it. No matter how small, it'll count for a great deal. Say he dies saving Buffy's life, great, Slayer lives to fight another day. Say he dies saving Dawnie, well, she's The Key. No telling what would happen if she shuffled off this mortal coil.

I believe this is the life he was meant to lead as well. I just don't believe that he believes that. I think Spike believes that William would have been a much happier and better person than he (spike) ever was. The Spike part of him, that has wanted to be good for so long, thinks that if he had just lived and died he'd have been better off.

Ok question for ya Buffy man:

Is Dawn still the Key?
Wasn't that part of her released when Buffy died?

Argh, I forgot buffy was on tonite...grrr damn damn damn it all to hell.

Spike killed himself? o_O

What all of interest happened?

Want a recap?

Frankfurt, Germany--A young punky raver girl is running. From whom? You guessed it kiddo--the robed and hooded guys from last episode. She's caught, stabbed. Before she dies she manages to sputter out "From beneath you, it devours"

Sunnydale, California--Buffy awakens with a scream. She's been dreaming. her dream? The young girl being killed in Germany. She knows it's real, that more girls are to be killed. Xander drives she and Dawn to school. They talk about Anya. Nothng major. Xander drops them off, Buffy makes her way down to the basement in search of Spike. He's hiding from her. Talking to himself. Gibberish. Then the room begins shaking, as if an earthquake was hitting.

Night. A young woman out walking her dog. Dog starts pawing, growling at the pavement. She looks away, then looks back after hearing her dog yelp. There's a hole in the sidewalk where her dog was. Suddenly she's pulled down to the ground, nearly into hole. gets up, runs. Into Xander. He helps her, takes her to Buffy's where they all have a powwow. Enter Spike. Walks into the living room, cleaned up, not at all the physical mess he was. Offers to help. Gets brushed off, but finally Buffy listens. He tells her something big is coming. Something that'll make them look like two little puzzle pieces. She agrees to let him help her. They go off in search of whatever got this woman's dog while Xander escorts her home. Before Spike and Buffy leave, Dawn asks Spike is he sleeps. If vampires sleep. He says yes. She tells him, quite matter of factly, that if he touches Buffy, if he hurts her, that he'll wake up...on fire. He's quite taken aback that his 'nibblet' would say something.

Buffy and Spike find the hole the womans dog was drawn into. besides some sliem, no clues. The two talk. A bit bitetrly, with Spike taking the brunt. Says he went away. That he's changed. Buffy's not sure she buys it. He doesn't tell her exactly what's changed, cause it's none of her business.

Meanwhile. Xander's walked the woman home. The ground starts exploding as if somethign were slithering foward directly underneath.S omething big. Suddenly, out spirngs a giant worm like creature, with a mouth for a face, teeth all around. Bad F/X. xander beats it with a stick or something, I forget. Finds out her ex boyrfriend was a dick. Abusive. She wished he was a worm. To Anya. he puts two and two together, they run for it, finding Spike and Buffy.

The gang go to the Bronze, where An is in the middle of trying to get a woman to wish her boyfriend into a spineless pig. No, really. She confirms it . Refuses to take the spell away. Blames it all on Xander. Spike walks around the table to confront her, and she looks into his eyes, face growing suprised. "What...How??! How'd you do it? I can...I can see you! How??" She knows he's gotten his soul back. Tries to play it off, then eventualyl pops her one. She goes demon. They fight. Buffy steps in. They fight.

Eventually, they stop the shit and go off in search of the demon/boyfriend. Xander has a bit of a heart ti heart with Anya.

The GF leaves in fear, and then the ground starts exploding. He's after her. She starts running, but it's too late, he's exploded from the pavement to eat her. Buffy and Spike show just in time. Spike grabs a long iron bar, and runs to stab the thing, but at the last second, it reverts back to human and the bar shoots right though his shoulder, impaling him. Spikes eyes go wide, he's terribly frightened. Starts babbling while Buffy and Xander and the GF tend to the mans wound. He's in shock, they call 911.

Spike runs from the scene, Buffy following. She comes to a graveyard and sees the chapel in the distance. She goes inside, looking around in the darkness. She sees him. Shirt off, chest scarred with slash marks over his heart. he's babling, gibbering. hey exchange some blows when he tries to grab her neck(he's kinda loopy, it's not mean) and she knocks him across the church, shattering pews. She grabs a piece of wood to use as a stake and tells Spike she'll listen, to tell her what happened. I quote.

Buffy:This is all you get. I'm listening. Tell me what happened.

Spike:I tried to find it of course.

Buffy:Find what?

Spike:The spark. The missing...The piece. That fit. That'd make me fit. Because you didn't want....I can't. Not with you looking.<gets up and scrambles into the dark>I dreamed of killing you. I think they were dreams. So weak. But you make me weak. Thinking of you. Holding myself and spilling useless buckets of salt over your...ending.
Angel...he should...have warned me. Makes a good show of forgetting...But it's here...in me..all the time. The spark. I wanted to give you what you deserved. And I got it. They put the spark in me. And now all it does is burn.

Buffy: Your soul...<eyes shimmering as she realizes>

Spike: Hnn...bit worse for lack of use.

Buffy: Y-you got your...soul back? How?<eyes wide, face in sad disbelief....>

Spike: it's what you wanted right? It's what YOU wanted, right? And nn-now everyone's in here. Talking. Everything I did...everyone I...And HIM...and IT. The other. The thing. Beneath. Beneath you. It's here too. Everybody. They all just tell me go...go...to hell.<walking down the aisle of the chapel, near tears>

Buffy: Why? Why would you...?<tears flowing slowly down her face>

Spike: Buffy shame on you...Why does a man do what he must? For her...to be hers. To be the kind of man who ...would never...To be a kind of man. And she shall look on him with foregiveness, and everybody will forgive and love. And he will be loved. <long pause as he drapes himself onto a large corss, his body beginning to smoke>So everythings ok, right? Can we rest now please? Buffy...can we rest ?

Yep. A shot of him from behind, body spread out over a very large cross, body burning. But not as much as it should, which is a very important detail, I think.

I totally left out Willow.

She and Giles were sitting in the doorwar of wherever it is they're living. A taxi pulls up. It's raining. She's afraid to go back. Giles asks why, she makes up excuses about the Hellmouth, since it's due to be opening, then tells the truth. She's terrified they won't take her back. That they won't accept her after what she did and tried to do. He assures her, then walks her to the taxi, carrying her bags.

Hey man, Great Summary. I was mad when I missed it, but now I didnt have to miss a thing =)

first off yes of course it bothered me that tara died i enjoyed her as a character but i dont think that it is homophobic or anything like that to kill her off ... its a story and i understand things like that happen

but to make willow be with xander is the weaker story because it would never happen in real life and its unrealistic yes i know buffy isn't the most realistic show but you asked me which would be the better story and i think even though the show is in an unbelievable setting believable storylines and characters make the show good

i just dont see the point in writing a character to be gay and then changing her back ... its insulting to a viewers intelligence i would think also

also to stick a gay character in for ratings and then write her straight because its hard to write for her would be very poor writing skills by joss whatever his name is :)

Willow has never come out as a lesbian. If she has please refer me to the episode. It is very possible and in my opinon likely that she is bi. She did have a crush on Xander up until the 11th grade. When Xander did the spell on girls Willow fell for him hardest of all. Willow also cheated on Oz with Xander not a girl. You're assuming she is a lesbian. Face facts the Willow/Xander love interest must be explored.

Gaylord.

Spike and his chip.

Chip doesn't work anymore.

When he stabbed Ronnie with the long metal pole. his hand went to his head for the inevitable pain, but it didn't come. And he noticed. The only pain he felt was the mental anguish of impaling another person with a pole.

Interesting.

Well, up until literally the last half second, he thought he was attacking a Slugoff Demon. But then, since Anya reversed the wish, it turned back into the human Ronnie just as Spike pressed forward enough to impale the guy in his shoulder. By reflex, Spike's hand flew to his head preparing for the pain, and you see his eyes register the fact that the biofeedback pain didn't come. The chip doesn't work now that Spike's soul, his conscious is back to guide his actions. He screamed out and showed a bit of pain, but I suspect that's due merely to the fact that he *cares* now. And his horror at stabbing a human possibly manifested in a small bit of pain, ala guilt.

All said, I'm quite sure the chip is now inert.

Well, I mean it would still work in another vamp, but something about having a human soul overrides it.
