Buffy: Countdown to the Apocalypse

I think I remember an episode where everyone was at The Bronze & talking & at one point Willow said something like "Hello, gay now", but I could be wrong. I do think that the Willow/Xander relationship needs to be explored some more.

As much as I love willow and xander (or the idea of them together) I just don't want to lose one of the few great lesbians characters on tv now. call me selfish if you like, but there it is

Maybe i'm just stating the obvious, but who says Willow can't be Bi though? I mean, isnt that the best solution to this problem? she maintains her "gayness", as it is, but can still be with Xander?

I'm gonna have to agree with the Eagle on this one.

Tonight, on Buffy the Vampire Slayer

At Sunnydale airport, a bunch of passengers disembark. We see the usual interaction between families and friends. Buffy, Xander, and Dawn wait at the gate for Willow to arrive. Xander has a big "Welcome Home" sign, written in yellow crayon (in reference to his speech last season). They're all apprehensive about seeing her again, but Buffy has talked to Giles, and he's assured them that Willow is OK.

After conversing for a little while, they notice that the doors to the gate are being closed. Willow never got off the plane.

At Sunnydale airport, a bunch of passengers disembark. We see the exact same interaction between families and friends. Willow walks into the terminal and looks around. Her friends aren't there.

A teenager is being stalked by something in a dark place. This time, however, it's not some proto-Slayer in Eritrea or wherever. It's just a delinquent spraying graffiti at the Sunnydale High construction site. A sing-songy voice taunts him about being alone, and he goes to investigate (hasn't lived in this town long, has he?). Suddenly, its slash, splat, AAAARRGH!

Willow arrives at the Summers house at 10:41am and lets herself in. The place is empty. She goes up to the bedroom, where she has a brief flashback to Tara's death. She looks around and notices that she's not included in any of the group pictures or the family phone book.

Willow hears a noise downstairs and goes to investigate. Nothing. Tired and sad, she lies down on the sofa for a nap.

Buffy, Xander, and Dawn arrive at the Summers house at 10:41am. They wonder if Willow has decided not to come home. They hear a noise upstairs and go to investigate. Nothing.

Buffy has called Giles, and he's wigging out, blaming himself for sending Willow back too soon. They're all feeling guilty, until Dawn points out that this is Willow's responsibility, not theirs.

Fade back to Willow, who wakes up and decides to give Giles a call. She can't reach him, though - he's in a Council meeting all day.

She goes to the Magic Box, which is still a boarded-up mess (guess those insurance premiums finally got too high). Anya is carrying some items out when Willow approaches her. Anya is still angry and suspicious, and Willow accepts this as being exactly what she deserves. That's no fun, so Anya backs off. She tells Willow that her friends are probably avoiding her, but she can find them at the high school, where they all seem to live these days.

Willow goes to the construction site, but it's empty. She soon discovers why - there's a skinless body there, looking unnervingly like the remnants of what she did to Warren last season. She leaves in a panic.

Cut to Buffy and Xander, standing over the body. It was discovered this morning, and Xander gave his crew the day off. Neither of them wants to say what they're thinking, but they can't help it. "Maybe Willow is back."

Willow makes her way to the school basement, where she finds Spike, still in Nuttier-Than-Rocky-Road-Ice-Cream Mode. He seems to be speaking to someone else while she's there, commenting that "Everbody's talking to me, but no one is talking to each other." He makes a reference to "the witch."

Buffy and Xander make their way to the school basement, etc. They hear the other half of Spike's rambling, and leave, frustrated. That is, until he mentions "the witch." He's not much help, though, and they're still baffled, if at least aware that Willow may have been there.

Willow goes to Anya's apartment to ask for help. She wants to do the old demon locater spell (the one Tara sabotaged way back when). It makes little points of light show up on a map of Sunnydale, wherever a demon can be found. Needless to say, the thing looks like a Christmas tree, especially at the site of the Hellmouth, which is so buzzed, it actually sets the map (and Anya's carpet) on fire.

Before the map goes up in flames, it reveals a promising lead - a demon is residing in a cave across town. Willow wants Anya to teleport over there, but she can't. Her bosses found out that she reversed the vengeance spell on Worm-Boy last week, and she's been grounded. She's kind of generally mopey about the whole vengeance thing, since it's just not a good time anymore. Anya feels bad about hurting people now, and Willow offers her sympathy.

Willow goes to find the demon herself, and Anya asks if they can do a spell to find Buffy and Xander. Willow replies that she tried. The spell said they don't exist.

At Buffy's house, Dawn is doing the computer research, getting just a little too enthusiastic about the gory details. Buffy and Xander talk quietly about their otherwise unspoken fear - that Willow has turned evil again and this is her dirty work. Dawn interrupts with some information about a demon that uses its claws to paralyze its victims, then slowly strips their skin off and eats it while they watch, then laps up the blood. Lovely.

Buffy figures out that the thing would have left a bit of a blood trail, so she gets Spike to play hemoglobin detector and lead them to the creature's cave. After a couple of snarky comments to Xander (funny how he's coherent enough for that), Spike takes off.

Willow climbs into the cave and looks around. The sing-song voice begins its spiel about being all alone and such.

Buffy, Xander, and Dawn climb into the cave and look around. The demon attacks them, slashing Dawn across the stomach. The paralysis sets in almost immediately. Buffy and Xander grab her and pull her outside, blocking the cave entrance as they leave. And unknowingly trapping Willow inside.

The demon is loving this, telling her that she's been abandoned by her friends. She's a little confused, since she didn't even know they'd been there. There's no time for figuring out these riddles, however, because the demon is coming for Willow, and she can't use magic against him (he's immune). He slashes her stomach and she sinks to the ground, unable to move.

Buffy and Xander get Dawn home and lay her out on the sofa. She's stiff as a board, and Buffy hits the computer, learning that the paralysis can only be stopped if the demon is killed. They call Anya to come and watch Dawn while they go back to the cave.

They'd better hurry. The demon is already stripping off Willow's skin and eating it like spaghetti.

Anya arrives at the house, feeling very benevolent today. She mentions helping Willow, and they stop cold. She reveals that Willow was going to the cave, and also spills some useful information about the demon. Buffy hands her a battle axe and tells her to come along and help out. They prop Dawn up on the couch.

When they get to the cave, Anya is surprised that Buffy and Xander can't see Willow, who is lying right there, badly injured. At the moment, Buffy is occupied with fighting the demon, who barely misses paralyzing her with a swipe of his claws. Anya tells Buffy to go for the eyes, and Buffy ends up having to gouge the thing's eyeballs out with her thumbs.

The paralysis fades, and Willow is left in tremendous pain. Anya goes for help, after reassuring Willow that her friends really are there. As she comprehends this, she becomes visible to them, and they to her. They are all immensely, tearfully relieved.

The next day, Willow is sitting up in bed, meditating in an effort to heal herself with a little Earth Magic. Buffy comes in, wondering how the whole funky time warp thing happened. Willow says that she did it accidentally - she was so worried about her friends not wanting to see her, they really didn't see her. Some aspects of her magic still aren't quite under control, it would seem.

Buffy admits that she suspected Willow when they found the body, and feels badly about that. Willow understands, though, and is just glad to be forgiven. She sits up and starts to meditate again, even though she's weak and exhausted. Buffy sits across from her on the bed and offers to help. "I have so much strength, I'm giving away," she says warmly. Willow smiles and takes her friend's hands.

Then off with you, go!

It was pretty good. Nice to see our favorite Swedish vengeance demon FUNNY again.

I thought tonights episode was pretty sad...except for the whole "lets pose Dawnie" thing, which i got a kick out of. I just felt total sadness for willow...really made me sad:(

I was thinking Anya and Willow actually. Unless Willow becomes a deamon or dies.. Then that should turn Buffy on.

LOL

Willow and Anya, that would be funny. Thier senses of humor would go well together. Buffy and Xander seemed closer than normal tonight, at a couple of points in the show I had to actually look closely to make sure they weren't holding hands.

Tonights episode was good. The whole Anya posing Dawn thing was hysterical, I loved it when she stuck the remote in her hand.

My favorite line though: Spike "I'm insane, what's his excuse?"

Not that I wouldn't like to see some clam munching, but it would be gross. They're all so connected sex-like as it is.

As for Xander and Buffy, it's only natural they would grow closer as the group shrinks down like it has.

Hi I've got a question for you. When Buffy drowned, Kendra became the new slayer even though Buffy only died for a few seconds. When Kendra was killed by Druscilla, Faith replaced her. When Buffy died diving into that portal thing wouldn't that cause yet another slayer to come into being?

Nope. It's a one time deal. No matter how many times a Slayer dies, she can only activate one other Slayer.

So what ever happened with spike resting on the cross at the end of last weeks show?

They only referred to it briefly. Buffy pulled him off, and then fled cause she didn't know what to do.

Did the show seem abit...well dull to anyone else?

I didnt seem to be into as much as last year.

And Willow seemed so...off to me.

Hey everyone! Ok I admit I read through about page 3 or 4 and then came to page 8, read it and am now posting. I will read the other pages but I'm waiting for a phone call so I need to get offline soon. The page I ended on was talking about Willow & Xander and whether they should get together and then the beginning of page 8 was like the same thing, made me laugh.
I was sooo excited to see a buffy thread here...I've been watching that show since it started and it's the only show I've watched all of (except the season when Buffy's mom died). I've bought seasons 1 and 2 on DVD, waiting for 3.

Thanks for posting Tuesday's episode Rasta, I went to tape it and that channel had gone out :( so I was glad I could see what happened.
I've made this too long as it is so I'll leave the rest of my gushing excitement for future posts, lucky you guys ;)

No problem, Felicia. I post recaps every Tuesday night in case someone missed it, and cause, um...I have nothing to do.
