Buffy: Countdown to the Apocalypse

Neither could I... damn powers that be at the cable company!

I am begging, yes, on my knees, for anyone who saw it to send me a PM with all the juicy info! Please!

I'll wait a bit and if no one else pops up up, I'll have it here in a little while.

Starts with a young girl being chased in Instanbul by a number of hooded figures. She's quickly dispatched.

On to Sunndale. Buffy's taken Dawnie out on a slaying lesson, teaching her the lesson of power. Who has it, who wants it. Tells Dawn that it's the vamps that have the power, not her. Buffy has to pull the vamp out of his grave since his foot is caught on a roof. It's silly. He overtakes Dawn then Buffy steps in, staking him good and proper.

Next morning. First day of school. Sunnydale High has been rebuilt by Xander's construction company. He's driven over to the Summer's house and shows Buffy the new blueprints free of secret passages, graves, etc. But those plans ovawerlayed onto the OLD HS blueprints show that the new Principals office is directly over the Hellmouth. So either he's going to have some bad luck, or there's a storm'a'brewing.

Buffy escorts Dawn to school. Meets the new Principal, a young nice looking black fellow whose name escapes me. He knows something of Buffy's past. Dawn goes to class and Buffy begins exploring the new school herself. She hits paydirt when she's accosted by 2 ghost/zombie things that try to attack her, blaming her for not saving them. She bursts into Dawn's classroom (as Dawn is dong the whole 'introduce yourself to class' bit) embarrasing the snot out of her. Buffy goes to see Xander, telling him Sunnydale High is back in business with the evil. Meanwhile, Dawn sees a ghosty thing too(in class, she shrieks) and goes to the bathroom, where she meets another girl(named Kit) in a stall who's seem something of the like. Hand start popping out of the bathroom floor, collapsing a section large enough for the girls to fall into. There's another boy down there, Oscar, who's being chased by a ghosty/zombie janitor. The three band together whilst being attacked by the zombie girl, boy, and janitor. Dawn calls Buffy on her brand spanking new cell phone, asking for help and beaming about the phone's reception.

Buffy begins fighting those ghouls when who should appear? Spike. Long haired, dark haired, dirty Spike who isn't all 'there'. She manages to flee from the ghoulies into Spike's living quarters, and he's half mad, bouncing on the walls, talking to himself. He's got a bunch of cuts on his chest, tellign buffy that he tried to cut 'it' out. She doesnt know what he means, but we know it means his soul. She leaves him, wondering what the hell is up, and runs into the kids, fights the ghouls, and wins after Xander breaks the talisman that summoned them in the first place(which she found in the bathroom by the sink...odd).

The kids get back to class when Buffy is interrupted by the Principal again, where he laments he knows more about her than she thinks, and offers her a part-time job as a councellor to the more troubled SHS youths. She accepts.

Back to Spike. He's on the floor, on his knees, when we see Warren. Walking around, putting him down, telling him he's nothing, that big things are coming. Warren morphs into Glory, who morphs into Adam, who morphs into Mayor Wilkins who morphs into Drusilla, who morphs into the Master, who then finally morphs into Buffy..."It not about good. Not about evil, it's about Power."

Meanwhile, back in England, Giles and Will have been taken in by a powerful coven to readjust Willow to life. Seems she IS magic now, not just a user, but completely connected. She has a powerful...vision, portent of the Hellomouth opening again..reallu\y, really bad..."it's going to swallow us all."

Sorry this was so quick.

My bad...that was me.

Hmm....a girl on her knees, begging whilst professing her love...

Nice,

I'm sorry...who is Dawnie and Warren again?

Dawn is Buffy's little sister.

Warren was last season's Big Little Bad...Shot Buffy, killed Tara?

Do you even watch the show?

Not since the 2nd season, as I said last time. :p

And I thought dawn was killed when the portal opened?

And I also thought Warren was killed?

No, she only had to be bled.

Warren WAS killed. As was the Master, and Glory, and The Mayor, and Adam, and Warren. All dead.

That's the kicker.

Did it seem to anyone else that this episode was the outline of the "new scooby gang"? Dawn, Kit, and Oscar.

Yep.

Strangely ethnic, for Buffy. Spanish kid and black principal.

Very true.

If the first show of the season is any thing to go by, the appear to be going for a different look this season. Perhaps trying to ease fans into nexts season no Buffy, Buffy.

Joss has said in a few interviews over the past summer that he intends for Buffy to return to it's 'roots'. He was prodded into further explaining that he intended to make it lighter, like it was in the begining, and make it center back around the high school. He said the show needed a break from the gloomy darkness that had taken over. ;)

I was just telling someone that!! Ohh, lol he's gonna get a kick outta that one!

In my opinion, last night was not a good Buffy.

It seemed too...fake.

Thats a really bad statement coming from a Buffyoholic, but it seemed more of a commercial for the next new "Joss" show then a Buffy show.

I dont buy the "job" she will have at school. Who would offer a job like that to a person with a history like hers?

All in all,it wasnt up to the standards that I expected it to be.

Possibly to keep their enemy close? Remember, just because Wilkins is gone, doesn't mean his administration is. It's no secret who Buffy is in the town of Sunnydale.

Agreed.

I didnt think of that.

Remember, her whole graduating class (which had the lowest mortality rate of any class ever) knows the score. That's a few hundred people. Now count in the hundreds of others she's saved, plus the countless demons and vamps... Word gets around. Most people just dont spend their time thinking about it.

I remember a comment long ago about how not as many kids died during her time there,or something like that, right?

It was during the awards ceremony at Prom, during which Xander lost out for Class Clown.

Jonathan: We have one more award to give out. Is Buffy Summers here tonight? Did she....um...This is actually a new category. First time ever. I guess there were a lot of write in ballots and the prom committee asked me to read this. "We're not good friends. Most of us never found the time to get to know you. But that doesn't mean we haven't noticed you. We don't talk about it much, but it's no secret that Sunnydale High isn't really like other high schools. A lot of weird stuff happens here."
Student: Zombies!
Student: Hyena people!
Student: Snyder!
Jonathan: "But whenever there was a problem or something creepy happened, you seemed to show up and stop it. Most of the people here have been saved by you. Or helped by you at one time or another. We're proud to say that the class of '99 has the lowest mortality rate of any graduating class in Sunnydale history. And we know that at least part of that is because of you. So the senior class offers its thanks and gives you, uh... this." It's from all of us. And it has written here, Buffy Summers ? Class Protector."

The actual award was a cute little umbrella.

The Morphing Big Bads...aren't First Evil like I originally thought.

I rewatched tonight, and when Adam appeared, he called Spike "Number 17" NOT "Hostile 17".

Small quibble, but enough to lead me away from thinking that it was FE.
