Brettj, I hope your time away was fun and/or productive.

There were plenty of cupcakes, but somehow the number has dwindled.

It was something I just wanted to do - to get out of the house.

Had coffee, got out, went to my mother's.

I love coffee. Part of my coffee drinking is / was habit - I've been drinking it for 40+ years.

For a while, I wasn't enjoying it - just habit. NOW, I'm back to loving my daily cups of coffee. I miss my one regular coffee shop (and the staff) but I enjoy the other one.

Just put coffee on now.

I like the smell of coffee, bug don't like the taste. I grew up with my parents drinking it everyday. I've never been able to acquire a taste for coffee.

I do agree that coffee can be an acquired taste. Mine used to contain 4 sugars (I've cut back since). I also drink stronger brews (which actually have less caffeine)

Nice to see some later-night posts.

Oddly, I almost never drink coffee in the morning. It tends not to sit well. I have to be up a few hours before I can drink it.

Love my morning coffee. Cream no sugar.

Coacheric we can share coffee anytime !!

That's how I take mine. I like lots of creamer but no sugar. I buy the store brand stuff for home. Budgeting and all. This morning I get Chick Fil A coffee. It is very good ! I will treat all you coffee drinkers to a cup. And SCcouple to a cinnamon roll or soda :)

Happy Labor Day !💉💊

We don't have Chick Fil A in Canada (and due to the owner's political views, I am glad of that)

Yes - there are times where I won't patronize a business because of certain issues. Another business (although not true in Canada) I wouldn't do business with would be Starbucks. First reason is - their coffee is batpiss. Second - their recycling policies.

Hoping all are well - wayyy too early for me to have coffee.

I'm a little more awake now, due to an injection of caffeine (NOT coffee)

My two newest aren't up yet, a third will likely join the pile later.

I got a critique on an older story - but oddly, it's one of my all-time most popular stories. I wrote the person back and let him know this, but of course, THAT person hadn't ever written a thing. To other LIT authors who might be here (RJ?) - does that bother you a bit? Someone complaining about something who has never written a word? The comment wasn't particularly well-thought out, but not totally without merits. I also informed him that my style changes from tale to tale AND that he'd read an old one. Whether that will matter, who knows?

Writing a bit today, wish I could become just a tad more alert.

Opinions?

There's no Chik-Fil-As here in my area, but rumor has it they're looking to come. I tried their fare when I was in the South: It was okay, nothing Earth shattering.

There's no Krispy Kreme here, either. They tried to come into the area, but they screwed up, had a taste test against Dunkin Donuts AND several mom and pop bakeries. Though they beat DD, they lost to several of the mom and pop stores. Also, where they had the store, was not a good location: Too close to one college.

We do have ONE Sonic, and it's busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest LOL A few more are going to be built and soon.

Oh, and Tim Horton's is supposedly looking for locations near all the four year schools - Union, RPI, SUNY-A, Siena, Skidmore, and College of St Rose.

Why? Because the hockey and lacrosse players from Canada miss them and will bring their American friends to them LOL

Tims has only done so-so in the US. Even a one-time partnership with Wendys didn't work.

Krispy Kreme had a similar fate as Target (and oddly, one of their stores was next door to what was briefly a Target) They opened huge across Canada - and were gone within a year. Why? Great product, in my opinion - but hand's down, the worst coffee I have ever had. To call it motor oil would be an insult to motor oil. I have yet to meet anyone who liked it. I still can't believe no one alerted them to one simple fact.

Canadians LOVE coffee. Interesting fact - Tims started as a doughnut chain with over 50 varieties. In the course of several decades, they realized that they were selling more coffee, so they cut back on the doughnuts and increased their coffee. It's mostly still swill (their dark roast is good though) but it sells - and the brand has almost become associated with Canada. Oddly, they've gone back to selling baked goods, more sandwiches, etc.

We now have a few Carls Jr outfits though.

We had Carl's Jr partner Hardees here for years, but before the merger, the corporation closed the local stores, despite their huge profits. Any fast food chain who serves breakfast will do well in this area.

There are two Carls right now - both in the neighboring towns. The next town over (our sister city) is a university town, so they likely do okay. Why they haven't tried something like Hooters, I don't know.

For breakfast here, you go to Country Boy - they have lineups, even in winter. They put carafes of coffee outside (they have an enclosed entry) so you can enjoy coffee while you wait to get in. Only once have I ever been there in over 20 years and found it dead.

As much as you want.

I like vanilla things - but NOT in coffee, oddly enough.
