Children of the 70s, I bring you Supertramp.

So you think your schooling's phoney
I guess it's hard not to agree
You say it all depends on money
And who is in your family tree

Right, you're bloody well right
you know you got a right to say
Right, you're bloody well right
you know you got a right to say
Ha-ha you're bloody well right
you know you're right to say
Yeah-yeah you're bloody well right
you know you're right to say
Me, I don't care anyway!

Write your problems down in detail
Take them to a higher place
You've had your cry - no, I should say wail
In the meantime hush your face

Right, quite right, you're bloody well right... etc.

Damn

Now that silly song will be playing in my head all night. ;)

When we grew up and went to school
There were certain teachers
Who would hurt the children
Anyway they could
By pouring their derision upon
Anything we did
Exposing every weakness
However carefully hid
by the kids
(?????) when they got home at night
their fatand psychopathic wives
would thrash them
within inches of their lives

I give you..."The Greatest Days of Our Lives"

Breakfast In America

Take a look at my girlfriend
She's the only one I got
Not much of a girlfriend
Never seem to get a lot

Take a jumbo across the water
Like to see America
See the girls in California
I'm hoping it's going to come true
But there's not a lot I can do

Could we have kippers for breakfast
Mummy dear, Mummy dear
They got to have 'em in Texas
Cos everyone's a millionaire

I'm a winner, I'm a sinner
Do you want my autograph
I'm a loser, what a joker
I'm playing my jokes upon you
While there's nothing better to do

Don't you look at my girlfriend
She's the only one I got
Not much of a girlfriend
Never seem to get a lot

Take a jumbo cross the water
Like to see America
See the girls in California
I'm hoping it's going to come true
But there's not a lot I can do

Ruby- That was a favorite album/tape. I listened to it many hours on the drive to and from Spring break in Daytona!

*sigh*

I am not too familiar with supertramp so i continued on the English people's angst against school in the 70s...

School's out for summer
School's out com-plete-lyyyyyy

Damn well right...

Now what's left is to decide if that's fun, or if it will reach the level of driving me nuts. (Hush, assume I mean "even more nuts" and just let it go, eh?)

Its exactly what I was thinking... Ruby every time you post lyircs like this I know what it is before lookig.

Wierd

Chefie, I think you and I share some sort of musical connection across the pond.

OK, this is weird. While I was typing, something very different came up on my disc changer.

Think big asian drums and a devastating bomb.

Enough clues?

You're kidding? I thought I was giving it away big time!

Maybe they weren't popular over there. ;)

p.s. Not a 70s rock band. Think 80s off beat with an appeal to jazz/percussion fans, such as those who might go see Tower of Power open for them at the Greek.

Oh yeah... and as for the children of the seventies... I only just qualify.. I was born in mid 79
