Baseball!

I can't wait to watch him strike out in person on opening day
I saw him several times last year when he hit a spectacular .201 in 40 games he played for Texas from the first of June to late July........

Nonono, can't watch a regular season game live.
Gotta be DVD to fast forward through the slow spots.
I can watch a game in 90 minutes vs 3+ hours.
Watch in regular speed when a runner is on base.

Then you'll love the 'Archived Games'. They even give you DVR-like controls: FF, Slo-Mo, etc.

I am a Ranger fan, and a fan of the DH........

Can't wait for Josh Hamilton to quit on the Angels like he did Texas last year........

Loathe the DH rule.

Loathe, loathe, loathe.....

But it's only a matter of time before the NL succumbs to it. :(

I am a fan of more replay too, bet ya don't like that either......I think baseball should be brought out of the 19'th century into the 21'st......

I don't see those two as incongruous.

I don't want a 3-hour, regular season game to get bogged down by endless replays, but it makes a lot of sense to have it in the postseason.

Alternatively, a system similar to football's could be applied whereby a manager could challenge a call.

Actually, if they enforce the rules about the amount of time to deliver a pitch to the plate, and not allow hitters to leave the box during an at bat, the games would speed up, and I think that would make it more fan friendly.

agree on replay, as long as it does not impead the pace of the game

Glad I'm not the only split fan out there lol

Dusty Baker is one of the worst managers out there. No one has done more to harm the careers of young players than him.

And now the Reds want to use their rocket arm as a closer....he could win them 15 games alone with his fastball, but nooooooo, let's put him in the 'pen.

I think a good replay system implemented on close calls on the bases would speed the game up. Under the current system, the player argues until the manager runs out to make an ass of himself arguing a call he knows can not be overturned. After five minutes of arguing and fussing the call is not corrected if it is wrong, possibly costing a team a playoff berth.

Chapman wouldn't come close to being an ace as a starter. He'd win 12-13 games.

He doesn't have a good enough third or fourth pitch to make it as a starter. Plus, even if he was stretched out as a starter I don't think he'd have the stamina to be effective for a whole season.

I've seen him a few times is person, and while it's exciting to watch him, I don't think he'd have much success

Been a Cardinals fan all my life -- and I've lived a loooong time.

This thread gives me an opportunity I just can't pass up:

Since the Cardinals opened their new stadium in 2006 they have won two World Series titles.
Since the Cubs opened their new stadium in 1904 they have won one World Series title.

Seems about right to me.

No to more replay

Absolutely NO to the damnable DH

Move both teams out of Florida and give them to cities that would appreciate them.

Agreed, though offense drives fans in the seats and if it offers aging stars an opportunity to hang around the game a little longer while getting paid handsomely for it, the Players' Union will make it happen.

I am afraid you are right.

I had the pleasure of working on the new stadium for a short time when it was being built. Love the place.

That is great, Serwolfe. I hope I can return and see a game there someday, but I doubt it will ever happen now. But if I could, then I would have seen a game in all three Busch stadiums. Yes, Gussie Busch renamed Sportsman's Park after he bought the Cardinals.

Not this year, no, but if they stretch him out this season and into the next, plus decent progress on his secondary pitches, he's easily a #2 starter with #1 upside if all goes well. Plus, there's more value to the Reds with him as a starter than a closer should they decide to trade him down the road.

I see Chapman as a young pitcher with unlimited potential, once he decides on a role for himself. Over the winter he wanted to be a starter and just a couple days ago he said he wants to go back to the bullpen.

It really doesn't matter where he pitches. As long a Dusty Baker is his manager he is going to get destroyed before he ever approaches his potential.

Mark Prior's ears are burning.
