Before I had an E. Before I met Pear and Svenska and J-L. Before my 2nd story. Before my first 19th birthday. Boy isn't nostalgia a weird thing.

After mentioning something to cantdog about Lit saving every post, I went into my profile and selected the 'Search all posts by this user' to go on a nostalgic trip back into the early days of my posting. Names such as WhisperSecret, RayDario, KarmaDog and Quint litter the threads, as well as a couple who are still around (No prizes for guessing Weird Harold as one of them). Such silly newbie posts, talking pompously about things that I didn't understand properly. You can see the kid shining through and it's incredible just how much I've changed in 2 years, thanks partly to you guys.

My first ever post (aside from my brief dip under my other n-d-p):

If you want any help, then I'm available, but usually if you bring another cook in, they tend to dilute the broth and move away from your original vision.

The Earl

[/memory lane]

Sorry, pointless and self-indulgent post, but I felt like sharing.

Just think how brilliant you'll be in another two years!

Spike . . . er . . . Earl is brilliant? I knew I was doing something wrong.

:)
:p

I went back because of the same thread. I don't go back as far as you do, The. But there were a few blushers. WhisperSecret was cool. Good writer.

Weird to be nostalgic about a forum. Could it be too important to us?

Nah. Our judgement is too good to get over-involved with unimportant stuff, I think. Don't you?

awww, you're not so bad yourself. just a little evil, but i like that.

;)

I've said this more than once: When I first began to lurk on the AH there were two men and one woman whom I felt intimidated by. Not personally, cos I was just lurking, but because I thought they were so fucking smart, witty and sophisticated.

Earl, you were one (christ, what were you? 16, 17?!), the other two were Gauche and Maths.

Perdita

p.s. Svenska was fucking smart, etc. too, but her quirky and sweet humour made me feel welcome, and in fact once she responded to me MG joined in. (Gauche took a bit longer to get on board :p ).

16? Of course not, I would never visit an adult site at that age! <ahem> In April 2003, I would've been on the board a year and would've been 18 years old.

We'll not point out when my birthday is.

Cheeky mare.... I mean Alpaca!

One thing which I thought was interesting - I have signed almost every single post I've ever put up on this forum with The Earl. I don't think anyone else signs their name with such regularity. The only one I've found where I didn't was when my Lady and I had just split and frankly, every trademark went out the window then.

You were on my list, 'Dita. As were Gauche & Maths, of course.

And now in the ultimate bit of nostalgic posturing - my first ever avatar, my first ever signature and my first ever tag line.

Gee whizz, talk about self indulgent! And it's not even your anniversary Earl!

;)

Happy memories dear. :rose:

Well, you weren't that intimidating, I never read your sigs but the AV did scare me (thought it was really you).

Pear ;)

Pear: Do tell me you remember my recreated picture of that with my Mr Flibble that I sent you. Came across it whilst looking for my old av.

On that note: Night all.

Remember?! I printed an 8x10 copy and have it displayed in my office. I tell everyone it's my last husband.

Sleep nice, Pear

I ain't sheddin' no tears for none of youse guys.

The Earl got my curious roused, so I checked on my first few post. In January, 2002, my first few posts were inflicted upon Lit., primarily on the Story Feedback forum. During my second one, I mentioned the writer might possibly be overusing "her" since it appeared 16 times in two short paragraph.

My third post was a defense of my second post after the one and only, KILLERMUFFIN pointed out that, grammatically, one cannot "overuse" any pronoun.

After emerging from that "baptism by fire' with little more than second degree burns, nothing much here has ever fazed me.

Rumple "still healing" Foreskin

One of the first that made me feel welcome was the lovely 'Dita. In this world, a guy who admits to liking theatre and ballet in less than a torture chamber is usually stuck defending his sexuality, even on a porn site. 'Dita just talked to me as me.

I love

this thread.

Even though I haven't traced my former posts as of yet. Tomorrow, perhaps, when I'm sober. :D

BUT I must confess I really love 'dita's AV.

The jaunty hat, the delighted eyes, the infectious grin?

I'm hooked!

No, no, no, Sarahh, this thread's all about Earl ;) . Thanks, though.

Perdita (and I just changed hats) :)

Yes, you are quite correct.

(Blame the evil Bacardi Gold - Bad rum!)

Actually, Earl, I find myself wishing I was as self-assured when I was your age.

I am humbled.

Earl.you got me to thinking and this is my very first post, coincidentally posted here in the Authors Hangout!

"Well as someone who has only just signed up,I say I have written for the pleasure of my husband and a few friends whom I have let read my work. I write to express myself and I suppose letting other people see this writing is something that appeals to my slightly exhabitionist streak! I love words and I love to write and erotica is so very primal and so very passionate and vibrant and varied that it is a pleasure and a joy to be able to tap into all that energy and see it come to life in words."

It really is enlightening looking back on my old posts (I was such a slut back then! )

I'm too tired to go searching my posts... mostly senseless dribble anyway lol

I used to flood stories with feedback until the wonderful Rumple Foreskin told me to come check this place out.

He and Tatelou were the first to welcome me.

Wow now I feel all warm and fuzzy thinking back lol

:p

About me??? No, this thread's about being self-indulgently nostalgic. Open to all.
