I had my final treatment yeaterday, and over the last couple of days the site of my radiation has become more and more itchy. Apparently normal, and could last up to a month they say.
To the point where I am about ready to rip off that section of my scalp!
The oncologist has prescribed a cortisone cream, but it barely mutes this infernal itch.
It's so bad it is now interfering with my sleep :(
I can't scratch or rub.

Anyone had this? What helped?

SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!

-cries-

I've had a lifetime exposure of almost 10 REM.

But I was this way before the radiation.

Not related to radiation, but sometimes my legs itch, I'd scratch them until I bled. Which is when I brilliantly figured out I had a problem. Tried various moisturizing creams, helped some. But the thing that worked best for me was Aspercreme. Yeah, a cream form of aspirin, but oddly there is no aspirin in it. Active ingredient is trolamine salicylate, whatever that is.

Hope it helps you.

That's aspirin.

I juat looked this up.
Can't use it on broken/irritated skin.
So, no good for me.

A half gallon of muriatic acid poured directly over your head during shower time should take care of it...

...don't worry about getting it in your eyes - it won't hurt (much).

Yw...

...you racist piece of shit.

Sunburn is the same as radiation, so a sunburn ointment should give relief. Aloe vera, or what you will.

Creams-Clobestasol Propionate, pimecrolimus, pills-maybe some antihistamines-an H1 and H2.

There are other things, but the broken skin makes that difficult. Wear cotton gloves to sleep in so you don't itch in your sleep.

There is also a pill you can take that stops itching from skin infections ask a dermatologist.

I've been wearing beanies to bed. Covers my head and stops me scratching.
Added bonus - it has gone directly from summer to winter here, so my naked head is warm

Then find some oil or edibles.

Most canabis products are still illegal here.
You can grow 6 plants for personal use, but if you get caught growing them you will still get a fine (although not a criminal conviction/record).
