They all saw what happened at Trump's rally in Alabama when he told the crowd they should get vaccinated. It was August in Alabama and the temperature dropped 40 degrees.

They are courting the votes of stupid people and must fake as much stupidity as they can muster. This is probably not too difficult for them.

At this point, they are counting on the reduced mental acuity of Covid19 long haulers for continuing support and financial donations. Fund raising for Republican candidates has hit a rough patch. The base is donating money to committees which put it directly into Trump's legal bills and there's not much left over. They need donors who aren't sure whose asking.

I am so sick of everyone in England pretending that your abysmal Healthcare System and health of equivalent citizens is somehow better than ours. You don't have the same racial makeup that we have and you don't have anywhere near the obesity rates. In the US we heavily subsidize obesity. "Covers" is relative and our costs are driven by expensive, long term care for obesity-related diseases, trauma centers in every big blue city where they save an astonishing number of gang members from GSWs, drug R&D where we subsidize the world including merry old England.

We also have a thriving contingent of ambulance-chasing lawyers.

One of our biggest problems with costs is that the payor and the patient are a couple of steps removed because of the unintended consequences of confiscatory income taxes leading to non-taxable benefits like health insurance being offered.

Another is our half-assed efforts at nationalizing healthcare. Medicare and Medicaid are heavily subsidized by insurance on others. The rules requiring hospitals to simply eat the costs of walk in traffic is a huge problem as well.

As Thomas Sowell has said if you can't afford the cost of your nation's Healthcare how could you possibly afford all of those costs plus an expensive bureaucracy on top of it. Essentially we've got all of the bureaucracy without the benefits. Paperwork is a full-time job for every Medical Practice.

They visit the US's medical universities frequently (or did before covid). But they cannot practice medicine in the US, not even on charity patients. Why not?

The cost of medical liability insurance in the US is so high they cannot justify it. Their UK cover protects them in any other country in the world except the US. They have acted as medical professionals in the EU, in Eastern European countries outside the EU, and in the Indian Sub-continent. But if they wanted to add the US to that insurance? the price would be five times higher. Your ambulance-chasing lawyers are responsible.

The American who has health insurance is being ripped off by insurers who will dodge liability or require significant co-pays if they can. They are there to make profits, not to protect their policyholders.

It has been said that the UK's NHS delivers a second-rate service for the cost of a third rate one. We should pay more. Its bureaucratic systems are inefficient because they don't put enough effort into managing the NHS. They need MORE managers, not fewer. Their computer systems were and are byzantine. A few clerks with abacuses could probably do better.

But the NHS is supported by all the major political parties in the UK. they argue about detail, not about the principle of 'free at the point of use'.

As an American, not of either major party, or school of thought,
but taking EVERYTHING that our government says or does
with a grain of salt is not stupidity, it's self-preservation.

Maybe those not from such a large polyglot nation
can more fully trust a government closer

In the UK we have a large network of private hospitals which will cater for those who have private medical insurance or are willing to pay by themselves.

For example, one NHS consultant suggested I should have an X-ray. The NHS waiting time was two months. I rang the local private hospital (half a mile away) and they arranged for a time to allow me to drive there. I was back at the NHS hospital the next day with the X-ray and the radiologist's report. Cost? £90. That could have been covered by my own private medical insurance but I would have to have waited a week for approval - so I paid it by debit card.

Apart from the UK's private hospitals, there are hospitals throughout Europe that will take UK patients. Their fees are usually less than the UK's private hospitals but each specialises in only one or two procedures e.g. breast enlargement or reduction.

In the UK, you (or your employer) can buy private medical insurance ranging from a cash sum for every day you are in an NHS hospital, to full medical cover for anything (except emergencies). If you are needing life-saving care after an accident or stroke, the NHS's trauma care is better and faster than any private hospital.

I have private medical insurance that will provide care if the NHS has a significant delay for any procedure. For example, it was recommended that I had a hearing test. The NHS consultant would not be available for three months. A phone call to my insurer and I was seen at a private hospital by a consultant within a week - at no cost to me.

1) our doctors and nurses get paid a heck of a lot less than yours do. This why so many leave for the States

2) we pay a heck of a lot less on the wholesale of medications. Which is then sold to us at a typically much lower price than in the States. Why do you think so many people want to get their diabetes drugs from Canada.

I do continue to understand the concerns that people might (and I myself) have, introducing a foreign element into their body like that. Me no likee that idea at all.
