I don't see how the fuck not being a racist dipshit and acting put upon for my white skin means I'm losing anything.

It's not a zero-sum game to acknowledge that some people are shat on in ways I'll never be, the world is changing and it doesn't kill you to meet people half way and listen to them. Often it feels that many of the conversations even here in the BDSM Board try to be too politically and socially correct.It's almost like people want to make up a set of rules so that we all fit tidily in a little BDSM box. One of the best contemporary examples are the so-called 'Indi's', short for individuals. People who by their definition don't want to be aligned with any particular style or mood, yet in order to be considered Indi, you have to dress in a particular way, act in a particular way etc. DUH?!

Yes, you have missed the point, particularly with your comment on the group you called "the Indis." What you're talking about there is style and not what most people mean by the idea of political correctness. It's very common for groups of people, usually relatively young people, to establish a style of dress and behavior that sets them apart from others. Pretty much every decade has at least one such style to its name: the Goths, Punks, hippies, preppies and so on. Each group develops a style and then clings to it as a form of identity. The group sets itself apart but the individual members are choosing to conform to the group's style. You can call style "rules" and you won't be wrong.

What I understand about political correctness is that the term is derisive and is used primarily as a code-phrase for "I don't want to have to treat everyone as I would have them treat me." It's a defense against progress in man's slow growth toward living the golden rule. Some people just don't want to give up their sense of privilege (or actual privilege either, of course) so they deride those who want to help our society continue to make that progress.

Actually, you might be surprised at what is covered by the EEOC. If I were to make a statement about the baldness of men of a minority race and say it makes them inferior, that would be racist and covered by the EEOC. It shows my intent at superior status to them.
