Are we too PC ?

See, that's the thing with racial reparations. It doesn't matter if you, or your ancestors had anything to do with the atrocities. It's your race, which is at fault. You owe me because people of your skin colour had slaves.

Now, pay up! :p

Mom?

I don't see how the fuck not being a racist dipshit and acting put upon for my white skin means I'm losing anything.

It's not a zero-sum game to acknowledge that some people are shat on in ways I'll never be, the world is changing and it doesn't kill you to meet people half way and listen to them. Especially when they're saying you just said something that is hurtful, instead of putting your head up your ass in defense.

I haven't LOST anything from doing it, I've gained things.

DVS is right: he lost that job because crappy people come in all colors and shapes. SUPER crappy people in this case.

I've been denied advancement at places because of gay male cabals informally running things, but guess what, I don't draw the conclusion that teh gays run everything woe is me. I put on my big girl pants and do my job or leave for something else. It's what the rest of us have been doing for centuries, welcome to "life isn't fair" 8.0

Anyone else work in an "at will" state? Any or no reason? The only thing in your favor is that you can leave a job without giving notice. So much for the entire rest of labor law anyway.

Often it feels that many of the conversations even here in the BDSM Board try to be too politically and socially correct. It's almost like people want to make up a set of rules so that we all fit tidily in a little BDSM box. For me a big part of my joy in the BDSM community is its ability to contain so many flavours and revel in them.I like being outside the box don't you?
Do we need to have such strict criteria? What's your take?

Political correctness pervades everywhere these days, Lit is no exception. I always marvel at spaces being created for people to 'be themselves, do what they like' and then rules being created to set out exactly what it means to be yourself and do what you like. One of the best contemporary examples are the so-called 'Indi's', short for individuals. People who by their definition don't want to be aligned with any particular style or mood, yet in order to be considered Indi, you have to dress in a particular way, act in a particular way etc. DUH?!

Uhh have I missed the point again completely? Yeah thats me...

Yes, you have missed the point, particularly with your comment on the group you called "the Indis." What you're talking about there is style and not what most people mean by the idea of political correctness. It's very common for groups of people, usually relatively young people, to establish a style of dress and behavior that sets them apart from others. Pretty much every decade has at least one such style to its name: the Goths, Punks, hippies, preppies and so on. Each group develops a style and then clings to it as a form of identity. The group sets itself apart but the individual members are choosing to conform to the group's style. You can call style "rules" and you won't be wrong.

What I understand about political correctness is that the term is derisive and is used primarily as a code-phrase for "I don't want to have to treat everyone as I would have them treat me." It's a defense against progress in man's slow growth toward living the golden rule. Some people just don't want to give up their sense of privilege (or actual privilege either, of course) so they deride those who want to help our society continue to make that progress.

Baldism ain't covered by the EEOC.
It's totally your choice, or something.

Wow, I feel stupider for having made that 2nd statement.
Actually, you might be surprised at what is covered by the EEOC. If I were to make a statement about the baldness of men of a minority race and say it makes them inferior, that would be racist and covered by the EEOC. It shows my intent at superior status to them. It's a stupider analogy, but you get the idea.

Are you pulling the EEOC now?

No, just been there, done that and got a few T-shirts. Want one? They fit really well, but in big bold letters they say "I'M A RACIST".
Yeah, but they're white on white, right? That should be OK :D

You sure as fuck have missed the point. Midwesternyankee is nicer about it than I am. Me, I just wish you'd get an education, because I get tired of being everyone's learning opportunity.

Isn't the odd nature of kinky sex a big part of its appeal? I think if you had a girl dress up like Sarah Palin and then give her a good buggering that might fall in the PC realm, yes?
I don't know how odd it would be, nor do I know if it would be considered natural. But, I wouldn't mind making Sarah Palin squeal like a pig, among other things.:D

What other things squeal?

Radio transmitters...

Rusty hinges...
